One or Two.

Since the question of whether or not to have two air conditioners comes up every so often I thought I’d post these two photos of my indoor/outdoor thermometer. Both photos were taken while camped in the Midwest and the trailers were in a site that was in full sun with high humidity and very high outside temperatures. BTW the outdoor temperature sensor was in full shade. My expressed opinion is for potential buyers of fifth wheels.

The first photo was taken in my 2008 Wildcat RKBS, it was 30 feet long with two slideouts and had one 15k A/C. The second photo was taken in my 2013 Silverback, it is 34.5 feet long with three slideouts and two A/Cs, one 15k and one 13.5k.

If you’re going to camp or travel in the Midwest, South, or Southwest during the summer months I highly recommend two A/Cs on most fifth wheel trailers with multiple slideouts.

The Wildcat 28RKBS.

The Silverback 29RL.

Here in west Texas, I will never have less than 3 ACs. Having the 3rd installed in a couple of weeks. After a visit with a Serria rep, you can order with 3rd air, they have built them several times, just do not show as an option.

Obviously it depends where you're going to camp geographically, how well your coach is insulated, size of unit and coach, etc, etc. For my 34’ unit camping in 90-100° I need two units – regardless if it high humidity or not.

Our unit is nearly 40' so I am glad we added the second AC in the bedroom! I love to hold off using the ac for as long as I can because I just love a great breeze! But, when the breeze turns to stifling hot humid air....it will be a relief to know the rig will stay cool!

I completely agree I have been trying to find someone to put a 3rd in mine, most places just scratch there head. My MH had three. When people go back in forth over two I just shake my head. I think two is mandatory. If I wanted to be hot I'd get a tent.
