Out west 2012

Trip report Yellowstone/ Black hills.

Trip totals 15 nights and 16 days.. Slightly more than 4,000 miles. Largest hills were at big horn mountain range. The Yukon Denali shoved the Lacrosse around well, but can see where more power would be good on long uphill pulls.

Mpg, not so good, averaged probably 9mpg.

2 weeks and not a drop of rain, bluebird every day.

1 night at KOA in Jackson Mn.
1 night in badlands at white/river badlands KOA.
2 nights in black hills at Rafter J Bar.
4 nights in Yellowstone at fishing bridge.
5 nights in grand Tetons at colter bay.
1 night in Jackson at some RV park
1 night, some RV park in Nebraska.

Things we saw:
Badlands
Mt Rushmore
Geo thermal activity/ old faithful
Wildlife:
Multiple grizzly and cubs
Black bear and cups
Pronghorn
Too many elk
Too many bison
Big make moose
Bald eagle
Deer/larger deer
Big horn sheep
And of course smaller inhabitants.

Activities:
Alpine slide
Horseback riding
Lake trout fishing in Jackson lake
Class III rapids in snake river.

Only disappointment was no hot water heater for last week, broken. Had to use colter bay shower house $3.75 per shower so $15 per day.

Good trip/ long and very busy!

Mike,

That looks like it was an awesome trip. We plan on a similar trip sometime in the future, but work keeps us pretty much confined to the Texas, New Mexico, Colorado area. Thanks for sharing those awesome pics!

We pretty much made the same trip, last year. Gorgeous scenery, great activities and absolutely a wonderful experience. Would love to do it again. Thanks for the pics and reminder of a fun trip. Glad you enjoyed!
