Park Models RV's

What exactly are "Park Models Rv's?" I seen two RV dealers mention them as a specific type of RV, but there is no real description of them given.

The few photos in the dealer ads show them, to me anyway, to be a small TT.

Park models "normally" are catered to a user that has a year round site.

"Normally" they have lots of windows and are longer units .
Washer dryer bigger fridge etc etc

I'm sure others whom have one or seen one can tell more.

Park Models R Us

2. What are the differences between park models and other RVs like motor homes and trailers?
Park models are RVs and as such are regulated by the Department of Motor Vehicles. There are, however, many important differences between park models and other more traditional RVs. For example, park models have full size kitchen appliances, regular flush toilets and do not have waste water holding tanks. Park models are also not as transient as motor home and trailers and therefore provide a more permanent home feel and spaciousness.

The ones I looked at were typically 400 square feet - 40 foot long x 10 foot wide. 400 square feet was a maximum number many RV parks/resort would allow.

Park models have stairs/ladders for access to a loft area in very tall ceiling. This is extra sleeping room and/or storage.

They typically have full size appliances and are designed to be used full time.

Due to their large overall size, they are also extra heavy. The big park models are too big to be pulled with a 1 ton dually truck. Soooo, you have to hire someone to move it for you. Those guys move it with a mini semi called a totor.

Price range 60-90K for new ones is typical.

Below is Minneapolis craigslist park model RV for sale - sorted hi to low price. Look at these to get an idea how they differ from travel trailers or 5th wheels.

Thanks - there is more to these than I thought.

I believe some people here would tend to think of them as "mobile homes" or "double wide" ,maufactured homes. You see a great deal of "double wides' being pulled, usually both sides at the same time by two different tractors.

I have a friend that bought a FEMA park model. He took it because it had a full size refrigerator/freezer and regular toilet. No holding tanks have caused him problems!

Forest River makes a line of park models that is very much like a travel trailer - particularly with tanks. Around 12,000 lbs, and in the $40's in price. Thought about getting one, as insulation is very good, but thought a 5ver would be more useful in the long run.
