pickup bed use

Hi all...we have been tt owners and are used to using the bed of our tv for our toys. Starting to consider purchase of a 30 to 32 footer. Not that familiar with fiver hookup...we can put our kayaks on the roof but my 10hp four stroke motor is our issue. Cannot lay it down and it stands abt as tall as the tv roof...what do do and is this a problem...thx...bo

I guess I don't understand your question. You have a 6 1/2 tall motor that you cant lay down? I assume you are talking about an outboard boat motor. If that's what you are talking about....there's no reason why it cant lay in the bed in front a your fifth wheel hitch.

Not 6 1/2 feet tall, just from the bed to the height of the cab. Right? I would imagine there should still be room for it. Providing the front of your 5er clears the top. I wouldn't lay my outboard down either. You could always consider transporting it IN your 5er.

Just curious; What do you need the 10hp outboard for? Surely not for the kayaks. And remember that the 5er needs turning radius with the cap taking up more than half of the bed. Are you planning on installing a front mount goal post mount to the front of the truck? I've seen this before and there are comments in this forum you might want to refer. Good Luck.

Reading up on outboards and such, I take it your engine says not to, as I read others have engines that say to only lay on a certain side. Does your FW have a rack in the back as some of the newer ones do? If so, I would make a stand for it back there.

Can the motor be easily disassembled to be shorter?
