Pin box mount modification

My 5th wheel runs about 3.5" nose high. I have a sidewinder and I can't raise it higher on the mounting bracket without interfering with its operation. Does anyone know if it would be a problem to cut about 1.75" off the bottom of the mount? I can't see a problem with it but I may be missing something. In the photo I would cut below the blue tape. BTW the springs are on top of the axle, springs are mounted in the bottom hole of the brackets, I have 7" bed clearance and hitch is as low as it goes. Thanks for any advice.

Somehow picture turned sideways, the trailer wasn't that way when I took it!
