Portable grey tank

So just a general question where do you store your portable grey tank when not using the camper?

Store mine in a storage garage where I keep my fifth wheel while camping 4 mile away. If I need it (usually 4 day weekend) I just go pick it up. Any other time I have not had the need. If I thought I might need it, I would place it in the bed of the truck behind the fifth wheel hitch.

I am looking for a tank but I have been wondering the best way to transport it. My dogs ride in the back of the Excursion, Forest River says not to use the back bumper of the trailer so I guess I will transport it in the shower. Any other suggestions?

My 21DK has a rectangular bathtub, if you want to call it that. My 15 gallon tote rides upright in the bathtub, wedged in with a 5 gallon fresh water tank and a dish basin we use to store our powdered laundry soap.

That arrangement keeps everything stable while traveling and it's all inside when stored.

I just noticed a couple of black smudges where the wheels touch the tub but it's minor. I'm not worried about it.

I keep my camper at a storage area, as much as I would like to I don't trust people like I used to, so keeping it under the camper is out of the question. I did see a mounting kit made by barker mfg that seemed interesting.

I keep mine under the trailer beside our house. When needed for long camping trips fortunately I have a pickup and it sits in the back. Their is a thread or two on here where some have rigged them to the ladder racks, great idea if need a place to put one. Do you have cargo rails on top of your excursion?

I unfortunately do not have a ladder on the camper ( on my list of things to get) and I need to get a Thule or something for the Excursion but I was going to do that for bikes. The underside of the camper is covered so I can't put it under there.

I could put it in the front basement but the dog pen and folding tables are in there.

Storage at home is not a problem, traveling with it is.

Thanks for the replies.

If your camper didn't come with a ladder there's a very good chance it cannot be installed after the fact.

I was wondering about that too so I called the dealer, they said a Puma ladder could be installed. That opens up another question.

It's possible there's "blocking" factory installed. ....
I'd hate to be wrong tho!

Is your unit fiberglass sided or aluminum?

darn, with a fiberglass unit on a dewy cool morning you can see the outline of the wall studs and any supports or cross bracing.

I store mine in the spare tire carrier I installed when I added a rack on the back. Works very well. I got the spare tire carrier from amazon.
