propane leak

I set my TT up at a campground in Caldwell ID so a friend could use it over the winter while having a house built. I ensured both 30lb propane tanks were full four days after setup I got a call at 0035 "its 40* in here and the furnace won't start and the wave shut down. I grab 2 20lb bottles drive the 37 miles sure enough the big bottles are bone dry. I install the two small bottles froze my hands off there was a little propane smell that I attributed to install. got home at 0330 next morning back there at 0900 with full large bottles and install them I did notice the smell again so made a bubble solution and sure enough the pigtail was leaking at the fitting. FR installed such short pigtails that when the bottles moved even a little the strain was on the fitting. I installed 2 new pigtails (campground had them) with a strain loop in them no more leak. I have read about pigtails leaking but thought not on my rig ya right.

That's exactly what I did within 2 weeks after taking possession of our last two trailers. The hoses are cheap, they become unacceptably stiff when it's cold and propane is not the place to cut corners. Good thing you knew what to look for and how to deal with it.
