I would do the same, go get it myself. Have a safe trip. We just found a new (for us) state park in WV, Cooper's Rock, heading back from IN. It is a great park, hope you find a nice one on the way home too.

I bought 600 miles from home because the factory was no longer taking orders for the unit I wanted. I had to find the exact unit with the options I wanted on a lot some where.
Saved. 5000 from a nearly identical unit (different color) close to home.
I have not needed service yet but I will have to take it to that local guy. Time will tell how that works out but I would do the same thing all over again. These units cost too much to not get exactly what you want.
In hindsight , I waited one show season too long. I could have bought last summer. I waited until this winter

For us, a closer dealer. Our dealer is 2 hrs from our house. What a PITA! But, my daughters place is 45 mins from the dealer, so we drop off/pick up from the dealer when we go visiting the grand-kids. Not ideal - we make it work for us. Wish they were closer.

Yup,save the money..Travel a little to save alot..
Most rv problems are not complicated. They are easy to fix.You will still have a warranty through local dealers, they may not take you right away but they will do the work.

Just saw this. We've stayed at Cooper's Rock in Wv as well. Nice place and quiet. Have used it a couple of times as a getaway.

We were exactly in your position 3 years ago. We bought our trailer from RVW and were pleased with them. You might want to plan to stay at the nearby state park for a few days to put the trailer through a longer PDI. We found our knock out on our heater was not removed so the heat wasn't getting to the vents. RVW took care of it on our way out of town.
After our bad experience with our local dealer - Southaven RV in northern MS, we found a local independent RV tech to handle service needs.
Do the trip - it allows you to get to know your RV right away and if's fun!

Our first trailer we purchaes from a dealer in Middlebury and bever had ANY issues with it. Our work & Play was purchased form a local dealer and it has spent most of the first year there getting warrarnty issues repaired. IMHO dealers pretty much suck and just want you money!

Get a quote on the internet and ask the dealer to match. I did and got a good deal.

We drove past Cooper's Rock for years going to the beach, finally stopped a few years ago and wow the view from the rock is unbelievable, and the sunset was even better.

I'm late joining the conversation but we just got back from RVW with our 356 QBQ heritage glen. Loved their prices, even with a 500 mile (one way) pick up distance. We have had no major problems yet and with the $8,000 savings I didn't mind the trip at all.
