So, I’m driving down the road….

… and I see a nice looking travel trailer parked in a lot adjacent to a nearby McDonalds. I can see it’s a Rockwood, and it’s an emerald edition, so it stands out to my eye – probably because I have one on order. So I’m thinking, that doesn’t look as big as their signature series, and I’m wondering what model it is. I turn around and go back to check it out, and next I notice it’s being towed by a 3500 dually. Hmmm, that’s a big truck for this 30’ trailer, I wonder if it’s in transport to a dealer maybe??

I pull up alongside and notice it does in fact have transport plates from Indiana. My heart flutters a bit, because the trailer that I ordered was supposedly off line yesterday on the 11th. I’m thinking could it be?? Nah, it’s too soon, can’t be mine, besides the dealer that I bought it from is 150 miles from here. Then I notice that it’s a 2604ws Emerald edition, same that I ordered. And I notice it has all of the same options that I ordered…. It’s got slide toppers, 3 three vent fans, and manual stabilizer jacks. That’s very odd…. Not being one to believe in coincidence, I begin to think that maybe this is my new trailer. So I get out and look around, snap some pictures, write down the VIN, etc. I decide to wait for the driver to come out and see where this trailer is headed.

The driver was a very pleasant woman, I told her that I thought it might be my trailer and asked where it was headed. Sure enough, it’s my new trailer!!! I didn’t expect it for a couple weeks. The driver talked with me for a while, and wanted to know how far she was from the dealer. I asked if I could open the door and take a look… she grabbed the keys -- how cool is that??? So I looked it over, called my wife to tell her and then thanked the lady for her time.

After I got back on the expressway, I got to thinking that I should have followed her to watch how the trailer was tracking. I pulled over on an exit and watched for her to go by, and followed her for about 10 miles. The trailer never weaved, it tracked straight as an arrow… she didn’t even have a WDH. I asked her about that, and she said that with the dually, she didn’t usually put bars on unless it was over 30’. Mine is just 30’…. She said it pulled great. I have a bunch of pics, I’ll see if I can get them from my phone.

Sounds like someone will be camping again soon! Are you going to pull it with your Ram?

Actually, we camped 3 nights over last weekend in our trade in... have to get it cleaned up quickly!

Yep, it's a perfect fit for my EcoDiesel Ram 1500.

So, I’m driving down the road….

What's the dry weight on that?

Wow- all that niceness and still 800lbs lighter than me. Don't forget to have a pdi camp out if the dealer offers it. We should have- would have saved us two trips back to dealer

So, I’m driving down the road….

Cool story. Congrats on the new TT.

On the WDH....I passed a TT in transport on my way home from picking up my new TT and the guy pulling the TT didn't have WDH on it either. We were coming from Ohio headed south going through the smokey mountains.
I saw him later at a rest area and we talked but I didn't think to ask him why he wasn't using them. Can't remember what truck he was using either.

I think I would keep the fact that you got to go inside to check it out on it's way to dealer a secret from dealer. If for no other reason than transporter might be in trouble. Also good reference point for PDI.

Did you happen to buy a Lotto ticket on the way home?

Nice unit.....

I absolutely agree with you on that. I had already thought about that nuance.

The funny thing, I still haven't heard from the dealer. I assume they know, that I know, yet no call or email. I know they have some work to get it ready... and they have to order a hitch, I just let them know on Tuesday which hitch I wanted as it is included in the deal.

I don't want to pester, but I wish that they would let me know how long it will take to put everything together.....
