Has anyone ever installed a tile backsplash in their RV's kitchen or bathroom and how did it turn out. I want to install a time backsplash in my kitchen and outside kitchen but I am afraid the tile will not adhere to the vinyl coating on the walls. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I used a product called Smart Tile. It's vinyl and comes in lots of styles. Self-sticking, easy to cut and cannot be told from glass tiles if you are 3 feet away. Not cheap, mine cost around $10.00 a square foot. I found it at Home Depot. Not all stores have it. I think it's available online also. This stuff is just wonderful!
I used something called Simplemat that I got from Home Depot. It's a double coated mat that you simply cut to size then peel off the backing and stick to the wall. Then there is another layer of backing to peel off. Stick the tile to it, grout and you are done.

My husband and I looked at this for around our stove area. Do you think it would work there? Right now there are mirror tiles there which I absolutely hate and my husband is afraid if he takes those down, wallpaper will come with them as they are glued on as well as held by some type of screw holder at each corner
If it is glued to the wall paper I am sure it will come off, but if you are re-covering it then no biggie. I would just score along the edge of where the tile and paper meet at the edges to get a clean break.

Our new camper had the ceramic tiles installed. Looks like it had a self stick to hold on wall but they installed over vinyl. Did not work well so went to Lowe's and pick up a tube of tile glue. For now staying place. Later RJD
