Travel Trailer Bed Layout - Question
I am looking at 2 different travel trailers where one has a North South queen bed and the other is laid out East to West. I like the East/West trailer better but concerned about the bed layout with a couple and getting up in the middle of the night... Anyone else have experience with this and is this something that is an issue?

Unless you are newly weds, crawling over the other person won't make the other happy in the middle of the night. I think the crossway bed arrangement would be harder to make up the bed. A walk around is most certainly better.

I completely agree with this. It is the devil to make and crawling over someone to get in and out of bed is not fun. Our camper is just 18' and the bed is up against the wall at the front. It pretty much runs the whole width of the trailer so there is no other way to get in it. Even though the DH gets up the most in the middle of the night to use the restroom I still get up earlier in the morning so I always end up crawling over him.

We had a rockwood 2306 with the east west bed and we hated having to climb over each other. The other thing we found is due to the sloped front end you could not sleep against the front wall per see. Not a bit deal except for the fact that the beds base did not extend all the way to the edges of the mattress (short by about 1 or 1.5 so the outside sleeper always felt like they were falling off the bed. This was solved by adding an extension with plywood but still a pain. Our new trailer has a north-south bed and even know it is short in the base by about 6 or 8 inches is that our feet so is not an issue. Much nicer to not climb over my DW for that midnight run to the head....

As much as I like our Hybrid, my next camper will have a north south bed.

I'd hold it many morning and nights until I was all but leaking out so I wouldn't disturb my wife.

A walk-around bed will win the war especially as time goes on. As already stated climbing over someone gets old real fast. This seems to be a much bigger problem with the person sleeping on the inside instead of the edge.

If not too late and do-able, try to find a unit that both of you can walk around!

Some east-west beds can be accessed from both sides - no climbing over. In that case, it doesn't matter.
