Tripod to support 5th wheel pin
New to fifth wheel and it is stationary...do I need to purchase the support tripod for unit? Trailer has 6 point leveler. Just never heard if it was necessary. thanks

They’re not necessary.
Spend some time in the unit and decide if you need any additional stabilization. If you do, look at the SteadyFast system. To me, they’re the best triangulating stabilizers on the market.

We used one with our 2004 Sandpiper. Electric jacks in front and scissor jacks in rear. It’s not needed on our Cardinal with the 6 pt level up system.

These used to be somewhat popular till products like JT stabilizers and Steadyfast came to the market. With your 6 point levelers, all you need to be aware of is use blocks or 2X8's as needed under the cylinder feet to minimize the cylinder extension. The less extension the less you'll notice movement. Dragging around the tripod was always a pain for me. It took up room during travel and was just plain cumbersome to set up. Before I had 6 point levelers, I had JT's ... infinitely better than the tripod. If you do somehow talk yourself into a tripod, check swap meets and Craig's List. Most of the people we meet camping cannot seem to give them away and have actually pitched it. $5 - $10 would be a big price to buy one now days.

My wife thinks we need it, I however do not. It's heavy and takes up space and inevitably has grease on it as well. Always seems to be a bit too short once the autolevel does it thing too.

With the hydraulic 6 point leveling system it is not needed at all. You should be fine without it. It does nothing but help stop the bounce in the trailer when someone is walking around.

Don't buy the tripod. You will just end up selling it later, like the rest of us - especially with the six point. Enjoy the new RV!!

Here's one of the latest threads on this subject. It seems that only a couple of members who posted in this thread thought tripods were needed/useful.

I like using a front skirt for storage purposes. Tri pod stand would be in the way.

I see you are in Louisiana. If you feel you need one and go to Texas on I-10 I have one I will give you. Live 3 miles south of 2nd exit.
I felt it did an O.K. job but got used to the movement after set

Message is pretty clear; no on tripod, maybe on stabilizer kit.
We are just back from couple of days and used the washer and
Dryer the first time; right front corner of trailer...shook RV on spin
cycles. May need to check out stabilizer...Thanks again

I don't use or need a tripod..... but I don't have a dryer, either. I do use JT StrongArm stabilizers.

You are grasping for the proverbial straw if you are trying to keep the rig from having some movement when the washer and dryer are in use. Ain't gonna happen unless you put the frame on piers.
Had the tripod. It's out back in the scrap pile. I have the JT Strongarms now.

We're in a new to us 5er. Our unit has the 4 point Lippert level up system. I'm using the X Chocks from our previous TT, and this thing is rock solid. Use the Andersen jack pods as well, they reduce the jack extension that also brings about wiggling. Keep in mind, you are still sitting on tires and they will always allow some movement. YMMV
