Just got back from 3800 mile trip of towing my 5er with my 2015 GMC Dmax. Needed to put DEF in after traveling 3600 miles.

Towing uses more fuel which means using more DEF

Must be one of those states with no inspection. Here you would get hauled in by the DOT for non compliance.

If you cared about the environment you wouldn't have had children-and thuse no grandchildren-which impact the environment more than a deleted diesel. In addition, you'd walk or ride a bike to work, disconnect your home from the grid, not use any electricity or water, not urinate or defecate, and hold your breath so as not to add to the CO2 burden.

I wonder how many millions of gallons are burnt unnecessarily each year in the USA because of DPF regenerations which on my truck, costs me about 2 gallons of gas every 220 miles while not towing and every 100 to 150 mile while towing. In addition, the partially clogged exhaust filter creates back pressure that must be overcome with more fuel usage. Modern diesels get worse fuel economy than diesels did 20 years ago.

The EPA is pressuring oil industry to make oils that are thinner to improve fuel economy. New diesel oils in 10w30 grade offer a 0.1% improvement in fuel economy over 15w40. The thought is that 0.1% will result in millions of gallons of fuel saved in the USA. Think of how much more fuel we could save by eliminating exhaust filter regenerations.

BTW, there has been a war on diesels for the past 12 years or so by our EPA. If they are so concerned about soot, how come they are not doing anything to eliminate soot caused by gasoline direct injection engines? GDI engines such on turbocharged engines such as the Ecoboost and other GDI engines emit more soot then my modern diesel. Attacking GDI engine particulate emissions - SAE International

The use of GDI technology is again the government's fault by pushing unrealistic fuel economy standards on auto manufacturers. If you have a direct injection gasoline engine in your car, you are pushing out harmful soot that effects me but not my children cuz I'm a responsible citzen and didn't want to burden mother earth anymore with overpopulation.

If you are a strict environmentalist like me, please follow my lead and spread the word to not drive on November 8, 2016. Think of the million of gallons we can save in fuel if like minded individuals who love our planet stayed home that day and didn't drive.

This standard environmentalist reply is probably the most ridiculous comment I have ever heard. I can only think it is meant to incite strong emotions and responses but is so overused it is meaningless. To me, Environmentalism is just a new religion based on beliefs of those with an agenda and short on true, provable, facts. I'll just stick to my own belief that everything in moderation is the best way to go.
