You could use charging lugs. These are nice and mount almost flush. You could either cut the alligator clips off and hard wire your cable to the male ends, or do what I do and remove the insulation from the male end and connect your alligator clips.

You could also use these.

Take a couple of bolts and put them through the box. Attach wires from the battery to the bolts. One for pos one neg.
Attach clips to the bolts.
Easy peasy

Also.... Hooked up and went camping! We are staying at a local campground / park (Tanglewood Park) until Monday. It is right next to the baseball complex my boy will be playing at all weekend.
Glad to meet you also and hope your son's team wins. If you have a buffing wheel and some time, they look great polished like chrome. Doubt you can powder coat the inner pole due to clearance being pretty small. Suggest PC the outer pole & brackets and polish the inner poles.

Thanks for the input. I intended to bring them with me this weekend and check them out but I was so rushed that I left them laying in the garage.

Thanks for the kind words towards the baseball team.

I'm sitting outside here at the campground, enjoying life. It really doesn't get much better than this!

Doug, the instructions for the VIAIR 400P that I just bought says you should run the engine to make sure the battery doesn't discharge too much so they seem to suggest you should connect to your vehicle's battery rather than the trailer's. Maybe if you have multiple deep cycle batteries you'll be OK. Have you used it connected to your 5er's batteries without being connected to shore power?

Send a message via Yahoo to bob caldwell
You can also find quick disconnects, like tow trucks use, at any place that repairs fork lifts

No, I've only used them with the truck batteries but I rarely leave the truck running. I don't run it long even when I'm topping up all 10 tires. And, the truck has dual batteries- so I've never had a problem starting it.

Running off of the camper battery was just an idea that I had with this concept of easy to hookup connectors. Right now, getting to my battery isn't super easy (move stuff in the basement, lift a panel, and unscrew the box).

For everyone else- good ideas. I have been thinking about something like the posts up under the wheel well- should be easy to run the wiring to it and easy enough to hook up.

This is a good point. We don't dry camp so in my application the TT would be connected to shore power when using the battery mounted power point.

Just make sure the wire is a heavy enough gauge to handle the draw and distance from the bats.

I didn't have time to wire up a plug, so just ran an extension cord out the panel which is hanging there for now. Ran a TV & DVD player. The semi sine-wave invertor worked fine. Idling, the inverter used 0.3 amps (as shown on my Trimetric 2030RV. Handy feature is a simple, wired remote on-off switch. It powered the TV & DVD player fine. Some guys have commented that you need a pure sine-wave invertor. I figured I'd just try this... no flutter or snow appeared on the TV. Happy with it!

THEN! de-winterized the trailer and spent 2 nights at the best provincial park in British Columbia; Rathtrevor Beach near Parksville.

I bought one of those on sale at Canadian Tire too. Glad to hear it works properly...

What I did to my RV Monday was trade it in on a new Heritage Glen 29BH. The first thing I did to the new one was drive it to the furniture store next to the RV dealer and bought a new 11" memory foam mattress. Now I just need to get my own truck to pull it. I had to borrow my son's truck to pick it up.
