We camped at Twin Rivers Campground in Crumpler NC this weekend. Right on the New River. Did some kayak fishing and tubing. What a great time!

We also have a black tank problem. After driving, and after flushing the toilet, we have a serious sewage smell. I'm thinking that the vent may be defective or blocked somehow. Any thoughts?

Head Gamez: check and make sure the small white plug on your LP regulator is tight. Mine wasn't, and I thought I had sewer problems. Smells the same.

How are you caring for and using the black tank?

I use the Blue Streak and dump when full. I also use the flush every time I dump, and always leave a few gallons of water in the tank.

The rear bathroom doesn't stink and it gets equal use.

Yes. When the toilet is flushed. Also, after towing it.

Occurs even with the fan off and vent closed.

Mine only does that after about 11 days of use. That's when I know it's getting full! After all, we all know how accurate the tank guage indicator lights are!
I think it occurs when the water/waste level gets to the bottom of the vent pipe in the tank and blocks the odors from going up the vent. Maybe your vent pipe slipped down into the tank blocking it or it has slipped down enough that it is now venting into the ceiling area.

Go up on the roof, locate the black tank vent, take the cap off and see if the pipe has slipped out of place.

I only had a persistent odor problem one time when I DIDN'T flush well enough (because it was raining )

I found on mine, it was necessary to also flush the gray tank. Not all the time, just when it starts to smell, usually after driving a long time and traps get emptied from bouncing down the road.

I did away with the valve in the vanity, and added a different valve in a different location

Our SOB should be home tonight after a two week visit to our local auto repairman. We have been negligent , and both house batteries were dead, there was a parasitic 12v drain on the coach battery, the generator was overdue for maintenance, and our tires have reached retirement age.

Replaced the batteries, installed a battery cut off on the main truck battery, changed the truck oil, and serviced the generator with new oil, air filter, and fuel filter. Everything runs like a champ. Replaced all 6 tires (will replace the spare as soon as we can find a locksmith to get the hard shell cover off - prior owner did not give to dealer.)

Once that was all done, we brought our 98 Jeep in, along with a slew of Blue Ox parts to get it all setup for towing.

Someone convinced the DH that the Maxxair vent covers need a line of sealant , while I contend that they are removeable for a reason, so hopefully the RV guy we've been referred to will set him straight and just drill the holes on the sides of each existing vent frame.

Spent so much on all of this, I'm not sure we can afford to take it out when the grandkids arrive next weekend.

Used my new Hughes Autoformer, for the first time today. Thank God I bought it before this trip. Voltage dropping to 111-112, when air conditioner is running. Autoformer brings it up to 120-121. Very cool.😎

Got a few things done today.

Added a FanTastic Vent to the roof over the bathroom vent.

My LED light came for the porch light, swapped out the incandescent bulb, now all lights are LED.

I also noted the battery cutoff switch was loose. The dealer put it on with only two screws, the housing had 4 holes. One was tight, one looked like it broke off when they tightened it. When they installed it it was not level either, so I moved it 1/2" up and centered it drilled 4 new holes and secured it the way it was supposed to be in the first place.

-------------------------

Sunday, I added a cat-back exhaust system to the TV and have a K&N air intake coming for Friday.

We just towed it back from CW after a bunch of warranty repairs. Cleaned up the inside a bit and put back a few items removed for repairs.

No photos yet, Changed the Propane regulator (suspected malfunctioning regulator) out for another one and had to do some modification to the regulator to be able to get it to mount on the hold down bar.
