Took it camping (2nd trip with the new 5er), installed a Camco screen door cross bar and restrung one of the day/night shades that broke during the first trip last weekend. I hate restringing these shades! Fortunately, it was one of the narrow windows and I had just enough string left on a 75’ spool I had for restringing shades in our previous TT but the string I had on hand was 1.2 mm which is not as thick as the string on these shades. I ordered a 300’ spool of 1.6 mm tan-coloured string from FixMyBlinds.com so I’ll be ready for the next one that breaks.

Anybody know where I can order an end cap for the middle/centre rail of an RV day/night shade?

Tomorrow I’ll attempt to install a PI EMS-HW50C.

Camping like lots of people for the Memorial day weekend, but having to deal with hot water smell problems. There must've been something in the water, but we're at a local campground we go to several times every year and never had the problem before.

It's not sulfur, but that sewer type smell that comes from anaerobic bacteria when it sits in a hot water tank and isn't noticeable in the cold water.

In all the years we've been camping, I never ever had this issue before. and I haven't heard any complaints from others here, so it's weird, but this is only the second trip this year and both were here. I'll have to sanitize everything again when we get home tomorrow. Even the hot water in our Keurig coffee maker started to smell bad on day 3 and I used purified water we brought from home in that except for one time yesterday when I added from the faucet with the campground water.

Made curtains for camper since it gets really hot inside. Should help reduce heat. Click image for larger version

KING bed

Re-installed the kitchen sink, which had dropped a bit on first trip. Permanent fix using adhesive and clips, I hope.

Removed the right side nightstand to allow for a king mattress in the bedroom. Built a shelving unit to support the mattress without modifying the under bed storage or making a permanent install. Ordered the mattress while it was on a Memorial day sale.

Moved the TT from one side to the other of the garage, outside. Blocked sunlight and viewing of some of my wife's plants. SWMBO spoke!
Actually, it was the first time hooking up my new TV to the TT. Test fitted the WDH, might work without any or much change. Set up the camera target for the trailer assist system. Lining up with a camera, even without the assist set up, made for an easy one person ball hook up
Also, set up the tracking info in the truck for the TT. Sweet, it will track mileage on the TT everytime I hook it up and acknowledge which trailer it is.
Recently found out the back up camera has a zoom feature; super easy to line up ball and hitch now.

First oil change. 6qts Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic and mobile 1 filter. Took all of 20 minutes. Easiest oil change ever. I expected it to be more to it on the V-10 Ford but everything was easy to reach. Surprised it only took 6 qts also.

Washed and cleaned all the awnings and slide toppers. Wet and rainy where we were this weekend and the pollen and tree buds were stuck to everything.

All better now! Left the stuff in the fridge as we are headed back out in 3 days.

Finally got to use the camper for the first home this season. Nice long Memorial Day weekend. Today we returned home and I had to “de-bug” the truck and the camper.

Did you leave your hot water tank full in between camping trips. If so this will definitely cause an odor.

I did, for two weeks, but I've never had that problem in the past for that long or even a little longer. The weird part was the hot water was fine for the first two days after multiple showers, dishes, etc. which should have replaced the water in the tank multiple times. It started all at once lat at night on the 2nd day. The smell also mostly went away and didn't come back for the last day after I flushed out the tank just by running another 10 gallons or so out of the faucet to try and clear it.

It's almost like there was a temporary period where the campground water had something in it, but then it cleared.

Either way, we're home now and I'm going to completely sanitize the whole water system again this week.

Once the season starts, I never drain the water heater or the plumbing system. Never an issue.

I suspect they got some bad water.

Me neither. We camp once a month.

I actually never drain the hot water heater. No freeze where we are.

We have vacation homes that don't get used for months at a time, we don't drain those water heaters either!

My sweet hubby replaced our old Maxx Fan with a new and improved one. The old one quit working. I'm told it might be the circuit board for the wall control, but this one is way better! Yay!Click image for larger version

Installed a Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C with help from FRF member Ken (kenandterry). Thanks, Ken.

I added a tailgate light strip bar. I added one to the truck and it was so nice I had to add one to the trailer. It will give more visibility when on the road. Also added the wire for the backup light so if backing into a spot at night it will light it up. It has the sequential turn signals also. Hope the video comes through but here is the link for more information.

Yeah, what he said ^^^^^^.
I never have drained my HWH between trips.... never had an issue. I, too, think it was bad water.

Have been home alone for a week, so I did a handful of honey do type jobs:
  • Installed RV SnapPads
  • Cut Reflectix for more windows since it's supposed to hover around 100 for a while and we're in Florida for the summer
  • Moved the pull handful for our recliners from the outside where you had to squeeze your hand between the wall and the recliner to inside beside of the cushion
  • Took the truck in for service (X,000 mile service, oil change, etc) - they said my tires up=front are "chunking" and they recommend replacement on a truck with 11,000 miles that doesn't sit for long periods of time... guess I'm calling the tire warranty.
  • Started searching for residential refrigerators that fit the space of my current one
  • Oh, and a bunch of laundry.
