Revised the recently installed wall organizer. The organizer comes 2 to a pack. We had no use for the second one.

On my first attempt I installed a single organizer with 6 rows of pockets as it came out of the package. On the wall it's installed on, that covers the bathroom light switch.

In the revised version I cut off the organizer below the third row. That exposes the light switch. Below that I installed the other organizer, truncated below the fourth row. Now we have seven rows instead of six and it doesn't interfere with the light switch.

Removable panels

I popped out all of the “non-removable panels” in the trailer, cut them to the opening size and put in some backing blocks to make them removable. This is especially handy under the sinks and above the entertainment center.

Before popping the panel out I went around the frame with a sharpie to get the size I needed to cut the panel down to. I then used a putty knife to pop the U shaped staples out of the panel and frame. I did have to use a pair of pliers to remove the left behind staples.

I also had an issue with the drawers coming open while moving. A couple of screw eyelets and a bungee cord took care of the problem.

Added a quick connect to my outside shower. See details and pics in "outside shower fixture replacement".

I removed everything thing from in around and under it. This was my plan as every two years I give it a deep clean. It’s time to oil the wood, deep clean inside and out. It’s also time to see what we use and don’t. It’s amazing to see what accumulates. I took out 4 sets of knives today. I asked DW why we have 4 sets, she states that she didn’t have room for them in the house and didn’t know what else to do with them. She also spent almost every waking hour the last 4 days looking at new 5th wheel as now she feels that we are too long. I told her we would have negative equity but she didn’t listen. It’s just numbers to her. I looked at our paperwork from when we signed the bad memories came back, i said no but wife said yes. Regardless of what dealership says I’m happy because I kept trailer and dealership will be bad guys or they perform miracles and wife is happy and I don’t have to wax the trailer.

Talking

I prepped my rig in anticipation of T.S. Elsa coming to west central FL this week. At least 1/2 of the RV owners were also doing something to their rigs this am.

So do you strap the TT to the ground to keep it from blowing around. If so, how do you do it?

If nothing else, filling the tanks serves as ballast. Of course, you have to have the means to drain the gray and black tanks at some point, after the storm passes.

In prep for a long trip, and because it was time, I finished inspecting and repacking the wheel bearings. I have Dexter EZ-Lube axles but, it being the first time they've been serviced, I wanted to make sure they looked good. All is well.

Having replaced the inner bearing seals I knew that was good. After hand-packing the bearings and reassembling the wheels I used the EZ-Lube Zerk fitting to fill the remaining space with grease. That was also just to see how well it works, while I was at it.

The EZ-Lube part was harder than it needed to be. My grease gun repeatedly stopped working. I gather there were air voids in the grease tube. Once it hit a bubble it stopped pumping. I had to disassemble the grease gun, work out the air, reassemble, reprime, then resume the bearing lube process. SERIOUSLY aggravating.

I'll use only the EZ-Lube process for future re-grease jobs unless the grease coming out looks bad or I suspect a problem.

I also lubed my Propride hitch while I was at it.

My buddy and I got started on his massive solar build for his new toy hauler. We got 1600 watts of solar mounted and Dicored yesterday. We're going to work on getting his Battle Born lithiums, Victron controller, battery monitor, and inverter mounted this week. He's still waiting on the UV-resistant wiring for the roof before we can get the panels wired and fished through, but we're hoping to get all the indoor wiring done so once his wire comes in, all we'll have to do is get the panels wired and fish it down to the charge controller.

My friend bolting them down.

I guessed and got lucky. My advice is order the rings and take one with you to a store you can purchase dog bowls from.

Reply to Bellas Owner & ChrisCowles:

I filled all tanks, put down the jacks, disconnected, outside wire, removed wheel covers, picked up all blocks & left it hitched up to truck. My storage yard has a dump site to empty the tanks. As it turned out this was overkill for the strength of Elsa but this was my 1st weather event & have no insurance which I hope to take care of promptly. Most of the other owners in the lot did nothing. They were FL veterans & were quite blase about this storm.

Took it to Ron Hoover in Odessa signed paperwork on new one. They did some creative financing, that made new more affordable. Unfortunately the new trailer isn’t a forest River, but part of the creative financing was. So at least six more years.

Washed the roof after having to go up and remove the ac shroud. Had a mud wasp nest on the fan and was vibrating like crazy. Cleaned the coils why I was up there, then washed the rest of the camper. Started cleaning and prepping for the NASCAR race in New Hampshire. Clean sheets and towels but back, loading beverages and dry goods for the trip. Next week stock up meat and fresh vegetables then off on Wednesday morning for the drive. Can’t wait!

Daisy chained the roof-mounted solar panels together with 1/16" stainless steel wire rope. Should a mount fail, the loose panel should be prevented from flying into a car behind us by being tied in with the other panels. 3 out of 4 are screwed into the aluminum frame surrounding the roof, so I think they're secure.

As usual for my projects, I had to redo some of it. After carefully weaving the cable through and tied both ends together, I realized some of the wire would be likely to slide under the Z brackets, breaking the Dicor seal. I rerouted some of it so none of it risks cutting under a Z bracket.

Also, loaded up in prep for 6 week road trip.

I added a WeBoost rv cell booster, and modified a battery operated motion light to clamp onto the rear ladder of my Surveyor 19BHLE. The motion light itself is removable for when traveling, and just the base stays connected to the ladder.
