Winterized!

Cleaned out the camper and got it all winterized, she is good to go until next spring. Also got the grass all cut.

Silly little thing but got longer M8 bolts with washers and lock washers for my LiFePO4 battery terminals. With two heavy duty terminals on each battery to start with since I have three in parallel plus other connections, I didn’t think there was sufficient thread engagement to trust over time. Only 2 or 3 threads at most. Now at least 5 or more.

Just got in most of my Amazon Prime fall days order.
Replaced my 2000 watt inverter with a 3000 watt inverter of the same brand. Almost twice as long and heavy so I mounted it to the floor vice the side of wood battery box I had built. Had to swap out the 12vdc power cables for a little more length but I could use the installed remote from the previous unit.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to run my Air Conditioner off this inverter occasionally.
One stupid design of the inverter is the rear mounting slots are right under the 12vdc terminals. Since I first attached the power cables firmly, I ended up with that end held by the washer lip over the flange. Tried to drill new mounting holes in the flange but the darn drill kept wandering ;(
No pics.

Dropped my TT off at my mechanic’s last night. He was done before noon today replacing the springs from flat 3500# springs to curved 5000# springs. I’ve read that the same axle tube was used for both. Very bouncy on the way home. Looks a lot taller, had to have gained at least 3” ground clearance. This is in addition to a flipped axle, so I’m in the 7-8” higher than stock zone. I’m driving slower on the tight turns when unloaded
Picked up the TT and when I got home, there was the rest of my Amazon stuff, my WeBoost OTR and 3rd matching LiFePO4 battery (wasn’t expecting the battery for a month). Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Probably a good idea to readjust your WDH, as the geometry has surely changed.

I had to make major height changes after flipping the axle.
Yeah, since it was relatively empty and within not needing a WDH limits, I just took it there & back on a basic ball mount.
I have to move it and block the driveway to measure and adjust from level so that’s a Spring job (pun intended).
I did have to pin the stair ground extension so it rests on the pin vice in one of the holes.
I could probably bump the WDH ball up one hole before even checking

Connected shore power.
Put the new battery on the TT counter and hooked up my charger to it. Came 85% charged.
Renamed it Wolf Pup 3 in the battery monitoring app. Cells came perfectly equalized.
I noticed that my two previous batteries have finally equalized ALL cells the same. Took over a month for them to match.
Need to locate my extra lashing cam straps and get my wiring parts & crimper together to make more cables for battery install.

Cut blocking and installed my 3 matching batteries. Used camlock strapping. Repositioned my 200 amp circuit breaker for the 3000 watt inverter.

My TT height at tire as delivered and after flipping axle and new springs.
After flipping axle (April 2020, last pic, dirty tire), TT WAS at same height relative to the tire. Then the springs flattened out over the next 3 years. Delivered TT had frame at wheel edge, now at tire tread, 7.5” difference.

Brought ours home from the dealer today. We had to have them diagnose an electrical problem. A DC circuit and an AC circuit weren’t working plus a couple of the auto levelling jacks (LF and RR) weren’t working properly. They pulled the coroplast underbelly and found what they called a squirrel nest and several chewed wires. They repaired the chewed wires and replaced the control cables to the 2 auto levelling jacks. After putting the coroplast back on they seemed to do a good job sealing everything with spray foam and they also sprayed the entire underbelly with a product called “Mouse Free”. I use essential peppermint oil on cotton balls and Fresh Cab pouches inside the trailer and I never saw any signs of visitors inside the trailer. I’ve had mice in the past but never a squirrel or chipmunk.

Squirrel teeth keep growing throughout their lives. If they don't chew, their teeth grow so long they cannot eat and subsequently starve. They love plastics--just the right density. They chew the insulation from wire. They chew HDPE tubs. They chew bird feeders to get at the seeds. I've lost too many propane hoses to squirrels. Most of mine are now armored in Carlon flexible conduit. They could chew through that, too, but they haven't tried to do so.

Not sure mouse-proofing will protect you--but they won't necessarily come back, either.

Drained the water heater.

Getting ready for next trip. Didn't drain the WH after the last trip, so wanted to make sure it hadn't gone "funky". Set the bypass. Grabbed my wrench. Started loosening the anode and... POP! SPLASH!

I forgot to release the pressure on the tank. No damage or injuries, other than my pride. Drenched and covered in white specks. This after reading the many posts of people winterizing their campers and the multiple warnings to release the pressure on the water heater.

Lesson learned.

And the water hadn't gone funky.

Suspension upgrade

October 25, 2023 I single handedly installed MORryde CRE3000 suspension system, Upgraded the bolts to wet bolts and installed four (4) new Goodyear Endurance tires on my 2022 Forest River Wildwood Heritage Glen 271RL trailer. The plastic/nylon bushings were worn through on nearly every one of them, and this is after only 10,000 miles of towing.
I used the yellow nylon rope with a brass punch to twist the rope to pull the leaf spring into alignment to thread the wet-bolt through the installed sleeve.

The rope's pretty clever. Usually you can put a low-profile jack under the axle and lift it while twisting the shackle to align the holes. The jack gives you vertical freedom and twisting the shackle plates gives an arc that provides horizontal freedom.
