Well I did it, took ll the graphics off of the front cap, what do you think. Just couldn't deal with the graphics coming off on there own. Pretty easy with a hair drier, plastic putty knife and almost no glue left behind. Used denatured alcohol for cleanup. Now for a final cleanup and polish.

Well I found out that I can't wash and wax this new one all in one afternoon That extra ten feet is a killer.I was doing my best Karate Kid impression,but only got it washed and one side and the back waxed.Now they are calling for snow this evening . 65 degrees this afternoon and snow this evening.Oh well,it'll slide off one side pretty good.

Good day to clean out and straighten up, so I did. Mounted Blue Streak in bath, secured H2O softner in compartment, fixed Dish tripod legs, removed unused items from bay, secured ladder and handrail for rear deck, mounted towel bar on bath door, and added quick connect water hook up with water flow meter.

Not banned, just not produced anymore. Yes, it can kill but there has never been a documented case of that happening. It's a lot less dangerous than the fire it's putting out.

Used to have to go through annual training for its use. A 6 foot circle of gasoline burning on the ground (in a contained ring) can be extinguished in less than two seconds. The only time I ever used it for real was to put out a car engine fire (not mine) and it worked with three blasts of less than one second each.

Three second discharge of Halon 1211 is definitely not dangerous to your health...unless you discharged it directly into your mouth.

Halon production was stopped on January 1, 2000 because it is an ozone depleter and contributes to the green house effect. Halon has bromine, a deadly gas used in fumagation in it's makeup.
It is never safe to use Halon in residential applications, but you do as you please, my intention is only to let others know of its dangers.

I think the dangers of Halon are an urban legend. I dug up this section of my old training manuals:

Halons are low-toxicity, chemically stable compounds that have been used for fire and explosion protection from early in the last century. Halon has proven to be an extremely effective fire suppressant. Halon is clean (i.e., leaves no residue) and is remarkably safe for human exposure. Halon is a highly effective agent for firefighting in closed passenger carrying areas. Due to its effectiveness and relatively low toxicity, the FAA continues to recommend or require Halon extinguishers for use on commercial aircraft.

Extensive toxicity evaluations have been compiled by nationally recognized United States medical laboratories and institutions on Halon 1301 and Halon 1211. These evaluations have shown that Halon 1301 and Halon 1211 are two of the safest clean extinguishing agents available. Dual Halon concentrations of about 5% by volume in air are adequate to extinguish fires of most combustible materials. This concentration is equivalent to emptying twelve 2.5 lb. units in a closed room of 1000 cubic feet, which would be highly unlikely.

It is the only extinguisher agent that inhibits the chemical chain reaction of fire instead of removing one of the parts of the fire tetrahedron that other extinguishers do.

Yes, you are correct. But, all fire extinguishing agents from the cheap stuff at Walmart through the big bottles of CO2 are hazardous to humans. The only safe one is water and it's only good for paper or wood. Try putting out a kitchen grease fire with that.

Halon is the "least unsafe" of all the available agents. Halotron runs a close second but it's not quite as effective.

If you're concerned about the safety of halon I suggest you refrain from traveling on airplanes. If you do, you will be surrounded by halon bottles.

Halon is safe for humans, however it's not safe for the environment. Here is a fact sheet which explains all about the product.

mcnabbwr found the link I was looking for and it's really good info. Some of it is direct quotes derived from approved FAA training manuals. I realize FR will try to make a profit anywhere they can, but fire protection is not an area they should skimp on. Halon bottles can be obtained for $200-$300. At least on the motorhomes the extra cost would be insignificant.

Most fires in RVs are caused by cooking incidents or electrical problems. I think that if one is traveling down the road and had an electrical problem it would be a lot safer if they could just grabbed the halon bottle and aimed it generally toward the back of the MH. It would give an additional few seconds to get off the road and evacuate.

Personally, I'll stick to halon only for fire protection. Have three bottles in the TT, one in the truck, one in the car and seven in my house.
