Is there a benefit or requirement to go with an RV specific unit vs a household one?

The benefit is "plug and play."
If you have a Coleman Mach analog, you can buy an Coleman Mach digital and the wiring will a direct replacement. Difference is the Coleman Mach digital will run you about $55, vice about $20 for a Honeywell non-programmable. So for less money, you have to figure out your wiring. If you want to run the fan on both speeds, you'll have to add a SPDT switch to the Honeywell. Also, the Coleman Mach is powered by the TT's 12 VDC system, while the Honeywell has a couple of AA batteries.
Dometic also appears to make a digital version, but I can't speak to prices. Since it apparently uses a switched ground (instead of switched positive), it's a bit odder to install a household one.
Here's a thread that's running now. It talks a bit about the odd Dometic requirements (you use a SPST switch for the fan speed if you go with a household T-stat.)

If you aren't particularly electrical-minded, it's probably better to go with the digital version of whatever you have.

What did you do to your camper today?
Bought a throw rug, a toaster, and did slide seal maintenance. Patched up a torn seal - not eve 1 year old yet.

What did you do to your camper today?
I 
Installed a wireless led dimmer in the bathroom to serve as a night light to help little kids with their aim(one can hope anyway).
Technorv.com was great-the first one didn't work. They immediately sent a replacement and paid for a return label. Top notch service!

De-winterized in preparation for state inspection tomorrow and first trip next week. Found awning does not want to work. No time to troubleshoot today so I'll have to tackle that after the inspection tomorrow.

I think those lines are the overflow from you fresh water tank. When you fill it water will come out of them when the tank is full. At least that is what it did on mine.

Tank overflow is usually larger than typical 1/2" PEX.

I too went there this weekend, Thursday thru Sunday. Used that time to clean, re-tighten and re-adjust the gear that I travel with. Seems that the stuff that you carry in the camper needs attention as much as the rig.

Fixed the bathroom vanity. Never used it yet and a screw head broke off as I am getting things organized. :-\
Also, opened up the area under the bathroom sink that say "Not A Storage Compartment" and reattached 1x2 and secure to the inside of the cabinet and added Velcro to make an accessible storage area for the holding tank chemicals and other cleaning products that are not needed daily.

Installed 2 120mm fans for the fridge. Ball Bearings and 1200 RPM from the Cooler Guys.
Big improvement in noise level. The OE fans were screamers!

Put the 303 on the slide seals. Very tricky to do the top one. Had to make a tool to get it done

It has to be. With my 14' slide and slide topper, there's no way to get to the middle of it. Short of sliding myself under the slide topper and top of slide- which might be possible for a 146 pounder... but I still wouldn't want to do it!

There is an inner seal that you have to get to. The one you see first is just a "sweeper" seal. It's not the weatherproof one. It just kinda "sweeps" off any debris and excess standing water.
