According to Wikipedia, the definition of an engineer is An engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical, societal and commercial problems. Engineers design materials, structures, and systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety, and cost. [1][2] The word engineer is derived from the Latin roots ingeniare ("to contrive, devise") and ingenium ("cleverness"). [

Long before Wikipedia or even Webster a steam engine was operated by who? An engineer.

Props to engineers of all types! I have an engineer's mind, but I love me some diesel-electric power, too.

Being a P.E., and also with a deep love of trains, I see no need to argue, but I'd like to point out if one goes much further back in time - early 1300s - that's where engine'er first appeared. Then, it meant quite directly the operator of the engine, and engine at that time was a military engine or what we refer to as siege engines or siege machines today! Because the operator of the siege machine was quite often the creator too, engine'er came to refer to the "builder of military engines." I know that sounds strange today, but you also need to understand that engine is derived from ingenium which is also the root for ingenious!
Anyhow, what I did to our new camper today was work on fabrication of aluminum underbelly storage drawers!

I tried to remove the LED light from the fridge, but couldn't get the housing off. Going to wait till the weather is a bit warmer till I go out there and figure it out.

I hooked up a 12 Volt Meter today. I mounted it inside above my electrical panel and below the Fridge.
Now I know and can tell at a glance the state of the battery and if the convertor is charging it, etc.
To me, this should be a standard item on all RV's.

I walked across the road and opened the door to the motorhome. I entered and immediately started thinking of warmer days and venturing down the road. Soon reality sank in, my eyes welled up, and I headed back to the house. And that, my friends, is what I did (not to, but in) my camper.

Today I installed shelves in the coat closet and now we have an nice pantry. Also installed a quick disconnect for our barbecue.
Knowing its the law not have a lock on the propane locker door I've decided to fasten a chain thru the bottles and bolt the chain to the frame and leave the door unlocked.

Lately, doing my typical after-Christmas routine of ordering various do-dads for the trailer truck for the start of camping season...so far my wish-list consists of:
For the Tundra truck:
-Rock Tamer mud flaps
-Much smaller radio antennae so I can dump the coat-hangerish one that is stock.
-Bug deflector for the front of the truck
For Rocky:
-EEZ Tire pressure/heat monitoring system (for 4 tires)
-Maxxair vent covers (one for the bedroom and one for living room..bathroom already has one.)
-Various voltage line testers and meters.
Other assorted things like new cloth covers for my electric waxer, slide lubricant, tie-downs for the plastic propane cover (it seems way too loose to me.)

Went to the storage area , swept out the inside and reorganized the storage area in front, put on the new wheel covers, replaced the anode rod and put on the step covers.
DW had me put up the key holder and we put in the new shelves in the pantry.
Getting ready to roll south in February for a few days of need R&R.

Well, it's +17oC (63F) here in Calgary this afternoon so I went up to the storage yard and checked her out. Everything all secure and dry. At temperatures like this it should be late April and I should be out camping. Checked the batteries that are in the basement at home and they are both holding their 6V full charge. I've poured over the CW lists and found the "nice to have" items. Now I just need the Loonie to rise back towards par with the greenback. Also been checking out a few places on-line to see where we might land on our trip to Oregon and Washington in August.

Started planning a 10-week trip this summer. Going to be pretty simple- to Orlando, move around there a bit, and then back. It's been dubbed, the summer of Disney.

Bought a 4kW Powerhouse Generator for the Rockwood. Just in case, power outage, Walmart stopover, no room at the RV Inn etc. Also I can use it at the storage lot when getting ready to leave. We can clean and stock the fridge etc. Leave the fridge and heat on if we go south in March, our street is jammed with snow making home parking a chore.
