What did you do to your camper today?

So doing research last night watch out what led's you get... Some can't handle over 13v... So if you are on shore power or your generator is running you risk burning them up and maybe causing a fire....


Order the following.
Flat style led's
Flipway jack foot.
Fatmat sound deadening to put around the generator box

ependydad If you are going to use the in-line splices like shown they are OK for interior work but DON'T use them for exterior work, they corrode FAST!! unless you seal them. Just a hint, been there done that .

I strongly am against those line taps.... I've seen them fail to many times even if used correctly.

If I'm going to tap into a wire I personally either
A. strip the wire where I want to tap in using a razor blade and then solder a wire to it and then wrap in electrical tape
B. Cut the wire attach connectors and make a splitter like this.



I would rather spend the time to do it right the first time rather than having to go back and fix it later... Depending on my work space depend on which way I do it.

Lucky IMO. But if it works for you than that's great. I've just had and seen them fail. Most recent example was a buddy bought his truck for someone and they had wired in additional aftermarket gauges the the headlight switch... Well one day the lights starting going off and then didn't work at all.... That wire tap ended up cutting the wire and over a couple years with moving from like bumps it finished it off came apart and no headlights anymore...

I assume the splices you are talking about are the junk scotch loc that you stick the wire(S) in and clamp them together. They use those things EVERYWHERE on trailers,inside,outside,underneath,you name it. When ever I run across one of those I cut it out and do a soldered lineman's splice with 2 layers of shrink wrap tubing.

If you use the correct size for the wire gauge your using the work well and last in dry inside areas.

With the LED's it a little darker but still plenty of light.


Here is what I'm very pleased with. The main living area is a little brighter and has a lot less shadows.

360 siphon roof vent:
I went up on the 320RS roof today and found my roof vent was open to the weather. Called CW and got the usual runaround. So I went on the Internet and found the manufacture and gave Bob the owner a call. After a very pleasant talk he is shipping me the complete new unit with gaskets, screws and sealant all at NO cost. They have done a lot of research have a good working product. FR is using these and paying more for them than it would be for one of the others. It's nice to know FR doesn't always use the cheapest products.
360 Siphon has a really good u-tube on the internet that's worth looking at.

Decided to do some shopping for the Windjammer:

Two Fan-Tastic Vent Covers, Three Wrap-A-Round RV Step Rugs, a pair of X-Chocks and a Andersen Rapid Jack.., now the snow needs to quit blowing...

Did you get it for camper leveling and will it fit between the tires?

I got the Rapid Jack just for changing flat tires on the Windjammer. Now I won't have to carry a floor jack. The RV store I went to didn't have just the Rapid Jacks in stock, so he took both pieces out of a complete Andersen leveling kit and sold them to me for $45.00 This is one item I hope I never have to use (wishful thinking especially running those china bombs).

I originally was thinking about buying the complete kit, but my tires are very close together and the levelers will not work.

Well I got some stuff accomplished today as I was interrupted to help my father in-law to help him with one of his rental units and then helping my neighbor with his motorcycle.

First project was getting the fastway flip jack installed. Very quick and easy install.


This is when I got interrupted.

Back at it.
I forgot to snap a picture but I used out label maker to label the 5 switches at the door for the lights.

Now for the next project. I took db readings inside the trailer and then used Fatmat to put around the generator box. This was a little difficult due to space. I was hoping to just put it all inside the box but I didn't have enough room to do that and I didn't have enough room in the box to move the generator around to be able to do it... So I had to put it all on the outside of the box except one side because it wasn't accessible.... So one side got covered inside the box and the other 3 sides outside the box.



Generator running when all db readings taken. I will note that the instant was bouncing around and the peak was changing every 2 seconds... So I'm just going up use the difference in the max number.

Before Bedroom - the generator is right below our heads...


After bedroom - a loss of 4 db! The only way I think I could lower it anymore would be to do the exhaust extension. But I'm happy with the loss of 4 db. It is noticeable to my ears.


Before living room/kitchen area - the peaks at the beginning of the graph were from me and I hit reset after and that's why it evened out.


After living room/kitchen area. A loss of 8 db!!! I'll take that!!!


I hope to get some more done tomorrow but we'll see.

Followed this thread...... Water Heater Switch with Power-on Light ......and installed an electric water heater switch inside our Silverback for our Suburban water heater.......on/off electric switch was outside with the water heater....not a convenient place when one wants to switch from electric to propane....now I have control of that situation from inside my control panel.
