Who do I contact about under rated axles on Brookstone

2011 37' Brookstone 5th wheel been having trouble with the tires wearing. Have just taken it in to have axles aligned and was informed that the axles that are on the trailer are at least 1000 lbs UNDERRATED for the trailer.
Has anyone had to deal with this?

Assuming its lippert axles. When I replaced my springs and shackles etc. to get back correct axle to axle alignment. They sold the parts for under half price. No pictures or anything DW gave them serial number and what the problem was and how I was planning to fix it. They offered the price reduction.

The info should be on the axle tube and number. I would have a print out of the actual weight of camper and what was told to you by the shop. If prepared they might send the heavier ones. All they can say is no and then try a camper dealership.

What is the dealer basing this on? What does your label indicate for camper GVWR and axle rating?

I didn't take it to a dealer/stealer! It was a business that knows trucks and trailers and axles
I also sent an email to Coachman, yeh as if I think they will reply with something with all of us out there with the same problem
It has been in the shop for many elec problems that they cannot fix or understand how or why they wired it the way they did.

LOL someone who probably knows nothing telling you you have under rated axles? How do you know for sure? 6000 dual axles will handle a 14000 pound fifth wheel with weight to spare. You have to remember, pin or tongue weight does not count toward axle weight. If your strictly looking at axle weight and GVWR he is right. But he is also completely WRONG!

Very true.... You could subtract the un-sprung (<<< is that even a word?) weight of the wheels, hubs and axles from that too...

The largest reason we got rid of our last trailer was because it had 5200 pound axles on it... That would have been fine with the 12,500 GVWR however.... The design of the trailer had 3 slides, water heater, kitchen & bathroom all on the left side which put an 800 pound imbalance on it so the axles were overloaded on that side. This caused the springs to flatten out only on the left making that side to be lower than the other so there was a definite noticeable lean to her.

Replacing the springs with heavier ones worked for only 1/2 a season so we traded her in for the Sabre and its 6000 pound axles.

Live and learn!

If that is true, the NHTSA National Highway and Traffic Administration, should be able to give you some assistance.

What is your trailer GVWR from the label? Your axles (GAWR) x2 should be about 80% of the trailer GVWR, the the other 20% carried by the pin of the trailer.

If the trailer GVWR is 12,000 pounds, then the 4 trailer tires carry 10,000 pounds or about 2,500 each. And the remaining 2,000 pounds is carried by the pin and the tow vehicle suspension.

Thanks everyone for all the info I am alot smarter now about axle weight.
I traded it in for a 2015 so the trailer is at the dealer now. I had alot of other issues and just didn't want to put more money into it.
