Catching up. We were in Las Vegas from October 13-27, 2015. We had a good time, but were just talking tonight that we have no interest in returning to the city or strip itself. Though, there are more things in the surrounding areas that I wish we had gotten to (specifically, Valley of Fire State Park).

Vegas recap

Following Vegas, we went back to our hometowns in Maryland and Pennsylvania to visit with family and friends. It was a great visit, but at the end of the day- it was good to go home to our camper.

2 Weeks in PA/MD

What turned you off to Vegas? It is on the bucket list if you will of places to go. I do not drink or gamble, I just simply want to see it.

I agree with Youroo. I don't gamble much, but the nightlife and seeing the sights of Vegas are worth a trip if you've never been. I had stayed at the Sands before it was demolished and spent the wee hours of a morning playing $2 blackjack with a dealer that dealt to the Rat Pack. The stories were worth the price of gambling. Those days are now gone though.

I'm glad that we went. We did enjoy it while we were there. We went to Vegas off of the heels of amazing beauty of Colorado Springs and Moab- they were a hard act to follow. And, experiencing Vegas with 2 kids in tow just changed the whole vibe of the trip.

One thing that I can put my finger on was a disdain for the constant assault of cigarette smoke. It was unrelenting and you couldn't get away from it- inside, outside, in eateries, you name it.

But, other than that- I really can't say what it was specifically. I encourage you to go. I'm glad that we did. But, been there, done that.

I've been there twice once by choice and 2nd time due to work Not impressed either. I guess I watched to many TV programs that showed it more impressive than in real life. Boring. Yep not a gambler either. Later RJD

Edad, how was Moab, and where did you stay? This is one of our stops while out west this summer.

Moab was actually the surprise highlight of our trip and is the answer when people ask, "what has been your favorite stop so far?"

We stayed at Archview campground because I'm a slave to hookups. They have some great sites in a "front row". I think they call them "deluxe" sites or something. From them, you have a view of mountains and once you know what you're looking at, of Arches NP.

However, if you can go without hookups- there are some amazing dry camping spots along the river. I drove past them, looking at them longingly.

Blog was a good read! Thanks. I can't recall where we are staying at the moment, I'll have to dig through the reservations. Leaning more on towing the Jeep instead of the Civic now.
