Question Alaska Bound

Come this August we are headed for Anchorage Alaska from upstate New York.. Plan on spending 2 months on road. Pulling a 17 ft Avenger with a 2016 Silverado 1/2 ton 6.2. Triple A advises entering Canada from North Dakota. Looking for any info on trip that will help & cut down on the surprises.

Most if of not all campgrounds along the ALCAN will start shutting down mid September so plan for that. Get a copy of Milepost it will provide as a good guide on what to see. Going into Canada is not a problem in ND, just follow the rules posted on the Canada web site for details on what you can not take in to Canada. Have a good trip.

I am interested in how your later summer trip goes. Next year we are planning an August drive to Alaska and staying a month then touring western national parks in September. Seems that most people go up in May or early summer. I have heard the roads are better in late summer, there are less tourists, and there are less mosquitos.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Sitting in Valdez with a little heat on while my Arizona friends suffer.
