When we cruised, we started in Seattle, flew to Fairbanks and then bused and trained to Whittier and cruised to Vancouver. It was all on Princess and was excellent value. It whetted our appetite to see more of Alaska(and the 30 other states we camped in).
I think our motorhome tour was more expensive but we covered a whole lot more real estate and our dog loved it!!

DW has us booked this early summer to fly to Anchorage,Princess cruisetour of 3 day motorcoach tour of Denali and long train ride back to Anchorage. Then 7 day cruise 5 ports down to Vancouver. Boy, the land excursions look great but can really add up.

Mogman, my DW says that was the cruisetour we were going to take, but the flights to Fairbanks didn't meet our schedule because of leaving our dog with family. So that;s why we went with Anchorage. Otherwise it;s the same. What excursions did you take in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan?
Since we aren't going to drive it, the DW wants to drive up with the MH and visit Victoria taking the ferry from Seattle or Vancouver next year.

FWIW I found out that native Alaskans don't think much of Princess tours. Princess owns all of the hotels, employ outside staff, all food and supplies come from outside and all the profit goes back outside. Outside meaning outside of the state of Alaska.
When you are touring by RV in Alaska your money spent stays in state and helps the economy. When you stop into those mom n pop shops drop a dime and buy local made stuff. Always check and ask if it is locally made. I made friends with a guy and his wife who have a place along the Glenn Highway who invited me to drop my trailer down for the night and let me plug in some power. Turned in to a 2 night stay and now we keep in touch regularly.
