Anyone know about the proposed D.E. Campground?

I heard about a new state of the art campground being built in DE. Anyone have an idea if it is still a go and when they expect to open it? I will have to look it up it does have a name.

So much for that idea, I guess. I suppose the local council would rather have a low income housing project be built on that site instead of a high end RV park. They'll regret that decision when the low income residents come rolling in instead of the vacationing campers with disposable income...

I've really been hoping they would open it up because we really have no where to go in Delaware aside except for the state park.

Love Creek was shot down again. There was an approval the same day for one in Masseys Landing. I live in De and have been following this closely

I checked that state park out last time I was down there, and no thanks... Feels like you're tailgating at a college football game, not camping. Sites are all jammed together and not a tree in the place. I guess it's ok if you just want to be close to the inlet for fishing, clamming, etc. But not the nicest CG going...

Trap Pond state park is very nice if you don't need to be near the beach. I go there 6-10 times a year since its 17 miles from home. Great kayaking and walking/biking trails.

Good info we haven't been there but I have it on my list of places. My grandparents used to take me to 3 seasons as a kid. And now that we are back into rving I've been really wanting to go to DE but theres nothing but seasonal campgrounds. We are about 1.5 hrs from DE beaches

the Yogi campground just north of the beaches is not bad. Not much for shade though. Lots of young trees

Sounds good but my wife is picky and I like salt water so we probably wouldn't go. We had reservations at Treasure beach last year but canceled when I found
out that out of like 1,000 sites only 20 or so of them are "transient" as they call them...no thanks. And they don't allow golf carts

little further south to Virginias eastern shore, Tall Pines Harbor Campground is on the bay side and very nice. Large sites. So many golf carts is annoying to those of us that don't use them.

It's a shame because when we want to stay closer to home and do a 2 night trip we end up in NJ. Which has a handful of campgrounds that COULD be top notch but for whatever reason they have there own way of doing things. The other thing about NJ is there are NO waterfront campgrounds like in DE, MD,VA etc. They only have murky lakes

I would guess there is only so much open space left. Towns are required to provide low income property's, I'm sure they will not go broke....

I suppose it's irrelevant since the project is now dead, but I am very curious what would make a campground "State of the Art"? Or was that just another way of saying "new"?

I've been to the Yogi several times. They have done a lot with it since they bought it and turned it into a Yogi CG. The owners are very nice and it's not far from the Bay for a day at the beach. It's not the best beach but, it's a beach.
There is Castaways in Ocean City MD, right on the Assawoman Bay. The beach there is very shallow but there's a boat ramp, fishing, two pools etc and outside of Ocean City.

I guess you could say new but I mean't modern facilities with all the resort type amenities not just a parking lot in the woods with electric and water.

Castaways is our favorite place but difficult to get reservations we go once or twice a year.

How far is Jellystone from rehobeth beach? I hate going to places that advertise being near a beach only to find out it's a half hr ride.
