TPMS would have alerted me when the tire bounced across the median and out of range. The tire felt the same as the other three.

The heat was in the bearing. If the tire stayed on, I am sure it would have eventually alerted me something was amiss.

Just throwing in our thanks that you came out of this OK. I'm wondering if you were surprised when you were told they would only take a check or cash from you. Not many business places will take a check these days, especially from out of staters.

P.S. - my MIL said same crazy guy pulling a FW thought Clyde was blowing his horn quite a bit - was that you?

Glad to hear everything turned out ok, I would keep an eye on that axle if it got hot enough to lose some of its hardness. Drink some Lambrusco.

Didn't know if the extra heat generated from the hub would have affected the TPMS or not. I know the exhaust from my truck affects my right side sensors.

Imaginine how much heat it puts out in Regen Mode!!! When we used to test them in out chambers we had to disable regen mode as it was hot enough to melt flesh if you walked behind it. We melted many 3000 degree exhaust hoses

Dag gon ! Herk !

Good look'n out. ! I understand that good thing I was looking, at that very moment. ! Kinda like catching the temp gauge spike, in process. or oil pressure dropping in progress !
I figure you,or the tire service guy, did check other wheels, like Tim asked. Right ?

Tom checked the other three and they were fine.

Herk - just glad it didn't happen on the Schuylkill Expressway. We'd all be wondering whatever happened to you.

Cheers and safe travels!
