Beaver Damage.
Dropped our camper on the pond last weekend for "Fall-Days",for six weekends up in Sturbridge.
This weekend noticed a Beaver was working on a goodsized birch tree about 5 feet from my slide-out he was nearly 1/2 way thru. luckily it is leaning away from my camper.
Gave the front office a call Friday night and within 5 minutes 3 maintenance guys were covering all the Birch trees with wire fence.
Saturday, they came down with chain-saws and dropped the eaten tree and another one that was 2/3 thru two sites over.
Trapping is not allowed in Ma. while these little guys are trashing the campground.
Last June a cat3 Tornado missed this camp ground by 1/4 mile.
Two other campgrounds in the area were completly destroyed.
I guess the Beaver problem is not that bad.

While trapping might not be allowed, there's usually provisions to alow a gov agency to come in and remove beavers that are causing damage to property or wet land areas. The campground management needs to be looking into this.

I wonder why the beavers are protected. They are fine out in the wilderness, but are nothing more than large rats and cause huge amounts of damage when we allow them to run rampant in our backyards. We kill off any predators that might keep the beaver population under control, but don't follow that up with common sense an control the beaver numbers.
Involve government in decision-making, and they will foul things up every time.

It is more about the tree huggers that got a law past to BAN Kill type trapping.
Talk to the guy with 2 Feet of water in His basement because the Beavers moved in next door.If you live trap them and move them, you have just moved the problems onto someone else....
