By the letter of our law any vehicle driven on our roads needs to meet our equipment regulation standards, that is how it is. NOW with that said... We can use discretion as to how we enforce your Florida tint in PA. But you COULD receive a citation for being less than the allowed 70% IN PA.

Same holds true for license class. I can look at your license class from out of state and if you are driving outside of it you are violating our license laws because our state honors all US licenses at face value and allow you to drive in our state only if you are within your states license class. Remember, driving is a privilege not a right. This is why buy the law you cannot double tow here in PA, even if you came from a state that you could.

Every state has diffrent laws from each other, many if not most are similar, but that does not mean I can get away with whatever I want and say.. "Sorry from PA".

Travel trailers............amazingly, TRAVEL! I see them from every state, IN every state. I haven't seen any stopped for Class ABC Checks, Weight checks, License checks, whatever. Maybe I'm naive. Have any of you actually seen or known about any such check in any state?

Heck, last I heard (long ago!) Oklahoma didn't even require license plates on boat trailers. So are they supposed to stay home??

"United" in USA seems to be waning..............geez.

As for length, too many campgrounds are too small. Yep. .. But I've managed to find those that hold my 40 footer so far. I do stay out of COE sites, much as I love their location because.........well, because we poop!! LOL

P.S.
My list of reasons to avoid the Northeast, already lengthy, is growing however. Toll roads, congestion, lack of fishing lakes (LOL), bad roads, small campsites, and now license and weight checks.......not to mention the #1 reason, which I can't mention.

If you read, the weigh checks are in CA not PA so you can take that off the reason to hate the NE (Well PA, but we do have BAD roads!)... As for weight checks and the ABC licenses, remember there are commercial and none commercial versions of the ABC licenses. As I said in my prior post, while a license or weight check could be setup and done on RVs there are better things to be done here.. But we are not in the same financial state as other left coast states either.

With the 2nd highest gas tax behind CA the state should be in great shape. We to see my brother in the hospital a couple months ago, NC diesel $2.03, VA diesel $2.17, PA diesel $2.89. in PGH. Truck stop across he line in OH $2.38.

Yes,, my nephew was ticketed in PA over tint on his FL car. Of course he was stopped for speeding.

Bad PA roads ~~ I-79 is not terrible but I-80 has been since it was built. The turnpike was so bad many, many years ago I still will not get on it. I'm hoping that is the reason for the big tax hike.

"For crying out loud" does this mean we all have to look up the laws like you do passing through states with a concealed and carry? seems that way but I hear what your saying.

Even though we are new to the TH and RVING times, we always plan our trips and check the map of the RV parks before reserving, from what I have been told watch and pay attention to the State parks. We like full hook-ups because we don't want the hassle and our last stop before we head home I always clean the black tank out with the wand and add a little soapy water. Now we have a 34.6" 5er TH but they say you really can't count 3Ft because its in the bed as apposed to total length. What do you people say?

Yours is a 43 footer, is that the total length of the trailer or is that not counting the space up in the bed? My TH is a 32 SRV model, actual length is 34'6 " I am assuming they are naming that due to the extra up on the fifth whl area(bed).

Man, that's got to be awesome to pull a 43' even though you said you will downsize.

The 43 is from back bumper to the tip of the nose/pinbox. A rep once told me the number is the length of the main frame. From there they are framed differently. If still true you main frame goes 32 and the stair area is built on it as you have more Mine is even more weird as it is a 370BR. The 37' main then there is a drop frame to add more basement storage and the bath/bed area is built on top of that.
Pulling 43' is no different than pulling 34'. It is perfect for the 2 of us and a small dog now. If things change, I'd like go back to around the 35' range of our last 5er. That just opens up a lot more CG availability. I'll pull the 43' just as I did the 35' all over the country bypassing some things done in the past like Wolfe Creek Pass.

I do not know if we are the second highest of not but we are higher than most around here.

It does seem that way... But at least if your tints is too dark you only go home with a fine.. Not a felony!
