Camping in GA, TN, or NC mountains

Planning a trip in March 2012. Looking for recommendations on a good park with nice views of nature and opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities. Did a few days last year at Amicalola and loved it.

Check out Enota mountain retreat near Helen, Ga. We're headed there next week and can't wait.

We were at Enota in August...loved it! People are great and the grounds are beautiful. Would go tomorrow if I could! Enjoy!

Rockwoodmiami,

Before this gets totally out of hand, you have 3 states listed covering over 1000 square miles. You could get too many replies to be useful. What area are you heading for? If you are like most, can't make them all, time & money, so you have to narrow down where you are going. Can't blame you for asking, but also don't have any idea what you are looking for other than hiking and outdoors. Possible in about 200 campgrounds in NC alone.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and it was nice. Black Bear Cove Resort 5842 Highway 30 Benton TN is a nice place. Good views and near some trails. I do agree with windrider though.

Hey Rock,

As some have stated, there are some parks that don't open until May or no earlier than April. Guess they don't want frozen water pipes. But still there are many that may have some of the park open. Check RV Park Reviews; they have links to most of their parks listed. I'm going to north Georgia in a couple weeks to look at all the dead leaves!

Just spent the weekend at Unicoi outside Helen, Feb 16.. Lots to do in the area. Kids lived all the Geocaches in the park. Waterfall hike. Hike around lake. Didn't even make it into Helen.

Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth, GA. It is up on the mountain, a good pull going up. They have several walking trails, a lake, later in the year, paddle boats and a small beach area with snack bar. They have some nice spots, bathroom facilities are always clean and well maintained. We have camped there several times and have stayed in their cabins also.
