I might be missing something? But if your going south on HWY 1 & turn right at San Diego won't you end up in the Pacific not Arizona?? The rest of the plan sound really good. Should be great time.

We would be interested also, was thinking about trying to go this summer but this might be more realistic for us. We are located in Oklahoma City. I'm currently retired due to these wonderful cheap gas prices. This year would be nice with diesel around $2.
