Alaskan Frog Spotted!
And with this bit of humor I also want to let everyone know that the caravan we are leading to Alaska with Pete and Michelle Storrie in 2018 is not affiliated with or sponsored by the Forest River Owner's Group
(Same disclaimer that is used for the FRF )
(Thanks for the GREAT Graphic Nadene!)

BamaBob, I am very interested in this adventure as well. What do I need to do to receive a packet? We've been living in our 5th Wheel for 2 years and I retire Dec 2017 and will be ready to travel.

Alaska Travelers 2018
Hi, Pete Storrie here. Bob and I are the joint planners of the trip. My wife and I went up in 2014 and loved the trip. She cried when we headed back for Texas, so we are going again. The AT18 group is all volunteer and everyone "works" as part of the traveling group. Our goal is to take twenty rigs and take advantage of group discounts at campgrounds and entertainment activities just as the commercial tour groups do, but with no paid employees and very minimal overhead. We have already contacted and have working agreements with over half of the campgrounds planned. At this time we have seventeen "committed" rigs. When Bob gives you access, you will see the plans for a trip of about seventy days that begins at several points in the U.S. or Canada. The route includes Banff and Jasper Canadian National Parks before heading for Dawson Creek and the Alcan highway. Dawson Creek is the official starting point and ending point with pre-paid "group" reservations beginning and ending there after the return from Alaska. We will be returning, via the Top of the World Highway through Dawson City, so the return trip will not be just a duplication of the trip up. Almost half of the "committed" rigs will be at the FROG Rally in Goshen and will be having a dinner meeting there. The original group name was "Frogs to Alaska", but that has changed and the group is in no way associated with Forest River or FROG except that many, but not all of the rigs are Forest River products.

Bill and I are interested as well. Not sure if you have cut off at this point. We are in Goshen site 488 in back of the vendor halls.
Would love to chat with you BamaBob before we leave. If you can send me the survey and info I would appreciate it!

Dorothy and Bill,
We have not closed out the group. If you will send me your email address, I will send you some of the monthly newsletters that have some of the basic information. My email is pmsto@peoplepc.com
I will text Bob your site Info, but I have no idea what his schedule is. The members of the group that are there have had two meetings this week on Monday and Wednesday evenings. I will give you Bob's cell number so that you may try to reach him yourself. It is 256-929-5686.
Pete S.

May I suggest a stop at Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump that is just west of Fort Macleod in SW Alberta. Very interesting place with lots of parking.
Also crossing the Yukon River at Dawson City will take a while with that number of RVs. Have to cross on a ferry (free).
Also, get the Alaska tour savers coupon book. Lots of savings in there.

Hello everyone! I have been following this thread for some time, showing it to my husband hoping that he would be interested. He finally said yes! We love to get some information about the group and figure out how to join up as we are in California. Our rig is large though (a 44' Toyhauler). Would we fit?

Alaska 2018
Hi,
If you will send me you email address, I will send to a starter information set consisting of the first three monthly newsletters and out Preparation Guide. My email is pmsto@peoplepc.com
If after looking at Info, you are still interested, there is more that we can send you and we will set you up with access our Google Group email that allows all of the group to broadcast questions, information and answers to the group. We also have a private FB page.
There are currently 17 signed up and are taking 20 with two standbys. If none of the first twenty have to dropped, out for some reason, then we will take all 22, but no more. All deposits and payments are refundable.
You are the first from California. When my wife and I went up in 2014 we had several from there. The Toy Hauler is not too big. Our truck and trailer is a total of 56 feet long. You will be close to that. We have 43 foot motorhomes signed up.

Small fry!
It sounds like there are some big rigs signed up for the Alaska trip!
We have a little 25ft Sunseeker 2300 that is great for tight places and easy to park.
We are throwing our hat in the ring and hope to make the cut off for the trip!

TruckTrend.com says the max length for a rv trailer in Alberta and BC is 41 feet.....max length for truck/trailer combo is 65'6". Max Motorhome length is 45 feet. I don't know how old, or accurate this info is, but it would be worthwhile checking with each Province to see if this is correct. Someone who has been through Canada with these size RV's recently may be able to give a better idea if these laws are actually enforced.

I saw every size shape and style of RV rig on my trip this summer. There were some big fifth wheel rigs am MH's pulling some big enclosed trailers.

Brian,
Yes we are no longer a "FROG" caravan. so SOBs are welcome!
As of today, we have 5 slots left before we start putting folks on the stand-by list.
