Smile Everglades National Park.

Yesterday we drove and hiked in the Park. The wildlife is outstanding, we must have seen 50 gators and all kinds of birds. Today we were outside the park but took an airboat ride in the Glades, not as much wildlife but it was still fun.

We took that airboat ride in the glades too. I had a great time there. Ate some gator too. Interesting place.

The Everglades National Park has been introduced to conserve the natural landscape and to prevent land, plants, and animals. It is located in southern Florida and a great natural and biological heritage to worth a visit.

It has a unique ecosystem with its endless marshes, dense mangroves, towering palms, alligator holes, and tropical fauna. The park is also an adventurous place and famous for various other activities including camping, hiking, ranger guided programs and bird watching. It is the ideal place for sailing, boating and fishing activities for visitors.

If you really want to experience the glades you have to do it in a canoe.
Those air boats are loud & you wind up eating a lot of bug.

Three years ago we spent 13 days paddling from Flamingo to Choloskee/Everglades City.
IMHO you can’t appreciate the real beauty of the glades doing 50 mph.

Spend two weeks sleeping on chickees carrying a gallon of water per day per person & freeze dried meals.
Race through “Nightmare ally” before the tide goes out & leaves you stranded for 12 hrs.
You can paddle for days without seeing another person.

PS: Gator you get for consumption in the US is farm raised. They are fed the equivalent of Purina Gator chow.
It leaves them bland tasting. I got a chance to eat wild gator in GA once & it’s nothing like farm raised.
