Fall Camping

I love camping in the fall. The temperatures are perfect for having campfires and the trees are painted with colors.

One AAA vote for Compton Ridge RV campground.

Great weather in Ontario for the fall. The trees are ablaze with colour and as stated the campgrounds are not crowded. The days are warm and the nights can be cool.

it was beautiful up at LORA (Lake of the Ozarks) this past weekend. We have two more trips planned before winterizing One up to Peculair for a family hayride and the last one to Babler State park!! That will make our fifth trip into state parks for a free stay next year. November is around the corner and time to start planning next year's trips!

Hey Punk! (sorry, couldn't resist) In your picture, is that horses from the Wilds out near Zanesville? We go there about once a year and really enjoy it.

Me and the Dobergirls are leaving Florida in 2 weeks for Lake Wateree SP in South Carolina, for a week. Hardly any other sites are booked and its all wooded on the lake. Can't wait for those chilly nights, mild days and fall colors... and quiet time!

No, their wild horses from Assateague Island in Maryland. They're pretty commonplace in the state park campground.

We've been to the Wilds though and it was a lot of fun. Didn't know you could camp there.

Just got home from a week at Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary on the St Lawrence River near Morrisburg, Ontario. 7 trailers the first night, 2 other trailers for the rest of the week, 9 or 10 Friday night & 6 Saturday night. Beautiful weather, great people, thousands of geese, dozens of deer & lots of ships working their way up & down the St Lawrence Seaway. Fantastic walking trails & at this time of year you can see deep into the bush. We start our bonfire around 4:00 & pile the wood on until 8:00 or 9:00, then it's in for a late supper while watching DVD's of our favorite old sitcoms. Favorite time of the year. DW & I make it our annual close out trip.

Hunting season for us this time of the year. Elk camp three weeks ago (10 days), first week of November will be deer camp (7 days) and then the first week of January is Javalina and deer camp (6 days).
January and February is the time for desert camping with the gang.

Fall is also the time of the year when the migratory White Pelicans begin to show up at Carlyle Lake on their way to wherever they're headed. It's always a treat to see them.

Hundreds of Seagulls spend the entire year at Carlyle.
Seagulls at Sunrise.

Spent our annual fall camping trip last week at Harrington Beach SP in Wisconsin. 35 mph winds most days (the campground is very young, so no mature trees to shelter you), temps in the 50's, raindrops a few days, absolute deluge on the weekend. But luckily the wind died down at night and the raindrops stopped for a bit so we could sit by the fire. Never got to take the golf clubs out of the truck.

But a week of bad weather camping is till better than the best day at work!
