Do you remember what year that was ???
Or how many years ago it was they stopped building Ygo's ???
It happened in 1989. There was high winds on the bridge that day and the woman driving the car panicked and stopped her car on the bridge over the grates, the wind then picked the car up and over it went. She should have kept moving. The winds coming through those grates can reach 200 MPH.

When the divers went into the water to retrieve her and the car, they video taped the rescue because of the strange circumstances, the eery part is the currents are so strong in the straits that when the divers got close to the car, the woman looked like she was waving at them because of the currents, of course she was dead.

I've seen semi trucks turned over on their side on the Mighty Mac and I have been stopped from going over due to high winds and had to lay over a day before crossing.

I crossed the mac last year during a wind storm on a full dress harley pulling a trailer, had to lean into the wind then it would move about 3 feet over when you pass the concrete pillars, longest five miles ever.

DOH! I misspoke. I was thinking of the Apostle Islands. My apologies. It is a beautiful area U.P. there.
