first outing 2012

We just returned from our first trip of 2012. Had a great time and saw some really great places. We spent 11 days on the road and covered over 2,000 miles, without any issues.

We visited - Hooper, Colorado; Chaco Canyon, New Mexico; Hopi Reservation; Lees Ferry, Arizona; VEGAS, Bryce Canon, UT and Kodachrome Basin State Park in Utah.

The water system had a leak near the pump - couldn't find exactly where. The water pump also had issues pulling water from the fresh water tank when the water level indicated below 1/3. To remedy these issues, I plan on replacing the water pump and routing the water supply line for the water pump from the bottom of the tank (it is currently on the side of the tank about 1" from the bottom). That way we can pump every last drop from the water tank.

Below are some photos of our outing.

I would had made a U-turn at the sign in the last pic....it would be enough to make me think twice.

Fortunately the roads were dry - otherwise they would have been far more difficult.

One of the highlights from the trip was talking to the campground hosts at each stop. Everyone seems to really enjoy that 'gig' and were very helpful. I made an effort to take a few minutes to talk to the campground hosts at each stop -- photos cannot capture those discussions, but we certainly created some wonderful family memories!

My son helped me thru a 'tight spot' along the way,but he awoke ready to take on the day!

One of my favorite things is talking to people where we camp, if I can find someone to talk to, I am happy. Glad you had a good trip and it is fun planning for your next trip. Happy Trails

I also look forward to meeting other campers and enjoy sitting around the fire with them. On last trip to Norris Dam in Tn meet a great couple next door. Sat around the campfire until after midnight. Hope to meet up with you sometime.
