Florida RV Resorts

Has anyone stayed at any one of these resorts and what do you think about them. # 1. Cedar Key RV Resort in Cedar Key. # 2. Royal Coachman RV Resort in Nokomis. #3. Palms and Pines RV Resort near Venice.
Would appreciate any info you can give. Thanks !

We have never stayed at Cedar Key Resort but did stop by and check it out. A very nice CG and if you have never been to Cedar Key, definitely worth a visit.

Thanks Charlie Brown, that is good to know. We have never camped at Cedar Key before, but , stopped in the town years ago while passing to some other place. Always wanted to stay there, and visit again, so this year will be it.

#1, is to me is a nice park. It is about a mile and a half on SR 24 before you get into Cedar Key itself. If you like peace and quiet, this is a very nice park. Quite far from Florida attractions which is a plus to me. Cedar Key is quaint, my kind of place.

I am from Venice, so I know about one of the other two. The only reason I would stay at either would be if I needed to stay in or very near Nokomis. I lived less than a mile from each of these in the past.

I would not consider #3 a resort, or even a CG. This term is so misused its silly. The trailer park, is ancient, I worked on phones in there 50 years. The Henriques' owned it way back when. Now they have a few RV sites mixed in 50 year old mobile homes. Can you say you-gly! Almost all the pictures except a couple of sites themselves are taken from all around the area. You are a little over a mile from Nokomis beach, which is one of my favorite. You can drive through the park using GoogleEarth, if you want to.

#2 can't speak about it at all, but it seems to be a long stay park, with permanent newer trailers and park models. It does have a nice looking pool.

Thanks Wolfwhistle, that tells a lot. So, it sounds like we won't want # 3. We tend to stay mainly in state parks, but , we are wanting to stay a month + in that area and we will being staying at Oscar Scherer S P. for the limit of 2 weeks and need a place after that. So hope the other private one is OK. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Sunnyfun Last spring I checked out the Royal Coachman RV Resort in Nokomis. The Camp ground is very well kept and nice pool and other buildings are clean and maintained. camp sites are small. An other camp ground that you did not mention is Camp Venice Retreat I stayed there a several years ago. Nice camp ground right on the myakka river large sites clean nice pool. easy access to Venice beach or engelwood beaches. PS this is real camp ground not a mobile home park
Have Fun in the Venice area Tim

Another park you may want to try is Myakka State Park, east of Sarasota on state road 72. Go to there web site for a review. Don't let the big guy laying on the shore scare you. Thats Mr. Al-e-gator.. https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Myakka-River

Thanks Tim, that's sounds good, I will check that out . Glad to hear that you stayed there, too. We are trying to get something not too far from Osprey where we are visiting relatives that live in a condo. So your info sounds not too far. Happy camping !

Thanks to you also Britschler. We visited Myakka for a boat ride several years ago. Yes it is a nice and fun park, but, looking for one a little closer to Osprey and one that we might want to stay longer then two weeks, but, appreciate your info. Have a good night.

Was at Cedar Key in November. Friendly campers. Very laid back. Check out their restaurant. Very good food! Felt at home in about one day. Will go back.

Thanks King Yankee, don't worry about the spelling, I do it all the time, that's why I knew what you meant.
