going south

dw and i are talking about going to the gulf coast over christmas break, was wondering if anyone can give some info on campgrounds in Alabama,texas, Mississippi,or others that members have enjoyed.I joined the forum a few days ago and have found it to be a great place for info. Happy Camping

Two that stick out in my mind are Palo Duro canyon near amarillo (also close to Lake Meridith) and Kerreville/Scheffield State park. Texas. San Antonio is also excellent. KOA and private camps/resorts accomodate tourists looking for Texas attractions like the Alamo and Six Flags-SA. There's also Seaworld in San Anonio.

Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL is good but you'll have to make reservations if you're planning on being there during the Christmas break. It gets pretty crowded during that time.
