I've often thought about the "Truck Stops"? do they offer pumps for RVs or trucks pulling TT that sale regular gas?

Was in a similar situation in Denver.
Traffic be damned, my DW stopped the flow and gave me 2 minutes to back out and we were on our way. (soaking wet with sweat) The traffic appeared to understand... at least there were no shots fired!

Never again! I start looking for gas when the gauge reads between 1/2 and 1/4 avoid stations with low clearance.
It is amazing how few gas stations post the clearance over their pumps! Also, it pays to know your exact rig height! (Ours is 11'8" even though the brochure says 11' 6")

Flying J truck stops have separate RV lanes with gas and diesel. Also dump station (for a price) and propane refill (portable tanks or built-in). If you are a Good Sam member you can apply for a Pilot Flying J charge card and get a discount on fuel and other RV services. Newer Pilot stations are being built with RV fuel lanes, but not many of them yet.

Some of the RV fill up lanes are tight and tough to manuever with the 4 wheelers trying to zip around you. I guess first one to the exit wins....

I have the discount card, but around here their fuel is so much more expensive then the other stations you end up paying more, even with the discount.

I'm surprised by that. I have traveled the Midwest this summer and found their posted price to be the same as other stations, so the discount is truly a savings. Must vary by location. I will say I can do just as well at a Sam's Club with their member price. Sam's stations are usually spacious and easy to get in and out of also.

I should clarify that the competitor across the street has the same price as the Flying J, but 10 miles down the road you can get the fuel cheaper than both without a discount card. I can't say why it's like this, just that the locals know where to buy.

My Flying J card gives me 6 cents off per gallon of diesel! That would be hard to match by any local station with an easy off\easy on location. The convenience, food-to-go and peace of mind that comes with the truck stops is where I prefer to empty the bladder and fill the tank.

Using Gas Buddy and its locater map helps me find the cheapest gas around sometimes 20/30c cheaper than most places, often but not always there is a photo of the gas station and the map shows you how close to the highway/interstate that it is.

20/30c a gallon makes a big difference on a 4000 mile round trip
