Heading south soon to give it a try

The wife and I are just about ready to head south for a couple months to give snow birding a try.
Have to be back in mid January but thought for our first attempt this would be enough.
Heading to Arizona and thinking of both Yuma and the Casa Grande area.
No reservations made but planning to head out and see what we find.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Where do u live? I only have to deal with snow when I leave this state in the winter but have been turned back by I-10 closing in jan while heading to El Paso tx. Do u think the roads will be clear for u to return in January? If u live where there is lots of snow is what I was getting at.

I'm heading out to Casa Grande for the winter in a couple of weeks. Beware!! We left last year to check out the Southwest for a long term place to get out of the snow. After leaving U.P. of Michigan we found a place we liked in Casa Grande. Before our two month stay was over we looked at park models there and bought one. For us it was the perfect place that we were looking for in our retirement years. So if heading south, leave your check book behind. You might get hooked!

Thanks for the replies,
As far as snow goes, we live just outside Seattle and the only places I have a concern about is I-5 in Northern California and southern Oregon. If we need to, we will drive up the coast.

As far as getting hooked, Good advice on leaving the checkbook here.
