Stumbled onto a neat planning site. If you add two locations and a type of destination (coffee, campground) it can find suitable places to get together. I actually used it to plan a halfway point for a fuel stop on our next trip but it is pretty useful for picking a place to meet another party.

They have a great start. If they add the Google type mapping or sell that thought to Google Maps there would really be something to this idea.
