...this is a much worse road hazard to deal with.

If you don't understand french, you're in trouble because that warning sign is in French.

Could be a bit tricky if your dog insists on using that pole

Just goes to show that the U.S. isn't alone in lack of common sense in the bureaucracy. You would have thought that someone would have stopped during construction and said "Hey, there's a pole in the road!"

Did you also notice the second pole on the white stripe line, so it was more than just a one time thing?

Hope these same people don't build bridges or tunnels.

Darn ! We had one thing going for us and now it is gone ! They removed it after it made the newspapers. Obviously it was due to a miscommunication between transportation and utility officials. They mean a HUGE MESS UP right ? Seriously !

Anyways, it is no longer there ... They could have used it as a tourist attraction

I found a news video (link below) on this, which actually states there were three poles. The mayor of the town says he was the one who put the signs on the poles, as the contractor didn't.

My guess is that the contractor got tired of waiting for the utility company to come move the poles, and just worked around them. It still doesn't excuse the fact that the govt. signed off on it and actually opened the road. This was just plain stupid on so many levels.

wmtire they do build bridges. There are several that have collapsed in the past few year. The reason, they forgot the rebar. That is why the local government is now in court facing charges of accepting bribes and paybacks. So far two mayors have resigned from their position. It is a mess.
