We were at Jellystone in Natural Bridge Station VA 2 weekends ago. The campground sprawls over a considerable area. We were in an area removed from the main attractions and figured we'd have peace and quiet there. BUT, there was a constant stream of golf carts going by our camper from early morning until past dark. They make big bucks renting these and don't allow guests to bring in their own carts; I don't know how many they have available to rent, but they ALL seemed to stay booked the whole weekend we were there. We were there with our camping club. To us, it was not worth the price we paid, and we'll not go back there. But I'm sure it's appealing to families with young children... but for the life of me, I can't figure out what pleasure they get in just riding around the campground in a golf cart!

The only we have stayed at is Hagerstown. Nice but a little expensive. Lots to do for the kids. That is the only reason we go and is usually just once a year. We have gone to Drummer Boy for Halloween the last few years and going again this year.

We stayed at the Jellystone Park in Woodstock, NB this summer while traveling through the Canadian Maritime Provinces. We just overnighted there.

The park was clean but they did charge extra for most of the stuff kids want to use. Ours are all teens so they were only interested in the pool. The staff we talked to were all friendly.

The shower I used was hot and cold, hard to control the temp, but the washrooms were generally clean. Our pull through site was quite narrow and our neighbour's sewer dump was in the middle of our site.

If we had younger kids we might have stayed a couple of nights but it didn't suit us with 3 teenagers. It was OK for an overnight stay though.

Reviving an old thread.

I stayed at the Jellystone in Madison FL this past weekend. I was parked in the big rig area and the site was surprising level for a gravel lot.

the park was nice and clean. there where a surprising number of campers in the park and plenty of kids for my son to play with around the park.

One issue however was the position of the sewer line. the pipe was raised about 6-8 inches above ground which made drainage difficult without the sewer line stands.

Otherwise, the spaces where wide ( they could have easily held twice as many large RV's) and each site had a fire pit(old Tractor Trailer wheel), and a picnic table.

The rate was $30.00 per night with the GoodSam discount.

I can second this. Stayed there for a week this summer. Train track (busy all night) 75 ft from site, roads potholed terribly, everything cost extra, very tight spots, dirty buildings, camp store and everything in it smelled like an ash tray, I could go on and on.
Had to just deal with it as extended family were there with us and had made the reservation.
Much much nicer places just up the road at Indiana Dunes SP.

I will caution anyone planning to stay at the Jellystone Park in Portage IN east of Chicago. 54$ a night and it is the WORST campground I have ever seen. 90% perm mobile homes and trash everywhere. The electricity was so weak we couldn't run the air on our unit. We were there for about 2 hours before we got a full refund and found another place down the road.

Some of them are really nice. I think they are all individually owned.

Just our opinion, but we avoid all Jellystone parks like the plague.

We take our grandchildren to the Jellystone park by us and they have a blast. Friendly staff and all sorts of things for them to do. We would also avoid them if it's just the two of us, strictly kid oriented place.

I’ve stayed in multiple Jellystone CGs numerous times over the years and have yet to find a bad one. I’ve always thought they were a bit over-priced since you’re mostly paying for the “name” but I’ve never had a bad experience in one.

The only problem we’ve ever run into was when we had our pop-up, a screen room and a tent all set up on our site. They said we couldn’t have the screen room AND the tent up. One or the other. Other than that, they’ve always been great.

X2 on a recent Marion review. It looks like they do a good job on Facebook. Going there for Spring Break.

I've been to a few Jellystones and loved them all. I hear the same kind of stories about KOAs though. Some people love them, some can't find a good one.

Generally have felt the same about KOAs, but one of our favorite rustic private campgrounds became a KOA this year... Thought it would be bad, but we stayed this fall to find it even better with the old bath house demolished and a brand new one in its place, more riverfront sites constructed along the maturely wooded bank, new electrical cabling and boxes, and the roads now free of divots and potholes!

I don't know if this instance would change my opinion of poor experiences over many years, but maybe it's a sign that KOA is changing how it operates. I can tell you that my hometown has a Jellystone, and it's just not our thing even when I take my four godchildren camping.
