From what I have seen from my experience the only place I can find cheaper than the koa is the state park near my house and they don't have WiFi or cable. They are like $33 a night and the one koa I looked at was $35. And last time I looked at jellystone park I believe it was the same or a little more

Stayed in the Bolwing Green KOA..absolutely the worst campground in the USA....website presented total different view from reality.....aged, unkempt, limited shade, high priced, sewer connections far from motorhome dumping station, on and on!

Turbs, figure that you are paying the balance of the $35 rate in your income taxes.

I fail to see the logic here. The same taxes are paid whether you camp or not.
He still saves money using public campgrounds.

The McDonald reference is spot on. The cg's are franchised, so some owners may not follow all the corporate rules, but you do have a corporation to escalate issues to. Never really had any issues (though the prices due tend to be higher than area cg's). We use a local KOA (about 60 miles away) to shake off the winter cobwebs each year in the spring. The sites are VERY tight but well kept, like the whole cg. Also, am looking at a KOA for our big trip this summer (about 450 miles). So that's 2 koa's, one state park, and 2 private campgrounds planning for this year.

When we snowbird to Florida they are great for the one-nighters. They are clean and they are right on the main Interstate. So its off and on! Just like any campsite, there are good and bad. And always fill out the surveys you get on the internet. Tell it like it is, don't be afraid. I filled one out about a KOA in Massachusettes - bathrooms were a mess in the morning, I told them. On our way home we stayed there again, what a difference!! Squeaky wheel gets the grease!!

Granted , most KOA's are not that nice and more expensive. But I have stayed at a few very nice KOA's. Devils Tower koa in Wyoming is very nice and so was Natural Bridge / Lexington KOA Va.
