Las Vegas RV Parks

We've been planning a Grand Canyon trip for almost a year now, reservations made. However, we have a change in our original plan from flying and renting a car to drive over to the GC. We've decided to drive our Forester 3011 from Ga and make the loops around NM, AZ, CO UT and NV. We have a site reserved at the GCRR RV Park in Williams, I've been really impressed with the customer service with reservations, hope I'm not disappointed.
We would like to stay 2 nights in Las Vegas. I've read too much on the on-line reviews of the parks located in Las Vegas; as one would imagine they are from one extreme to the other.
Anyone have suggestions from experience, for a short stay for 4 adults, within reasonable distance to the highlights, we are not planning on taking a toad, so we would be dependent on Uber and such. Safety and security are a concern.
Thanks for any advice!

We usually stay at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. Just south of the strip. Nice park, lots of amenities, close enough to the strip.

You will love the GCRR RV Park!!! We usually stay there a couple of weeks every year. Very nice park and close to everything. Williams is just a fun little town with more evening entertainment than you would expect. And you have to take the train at least once. A very enjoyable experience. Next March we are taking the train and then staying at the hotel on the rim for a few days, then taking the train back.

Have fun!!!!

Thanks. The Oasis was one of our choices, it did have some great reviews.

We have reservations at the Bright Angel Lodge for two nights, planning to take the train up and back and leave the rv parked at the campground. Originally we had 5 nights reserved, but reservation CS was frank about not being able to guarantee parking space at the GC over the July 4th week.

I'm sure you have done your research, but you do know how hot it is in Vegas in June/July right? Two A/C's have a hard time keeping up. Just checking

We are among those "crazies" that spend time during the summer in 100+ degree areas with our RV. You definitely need to be prepared for it.

It does not cost much to ride public transportation. Buy the day trip. Get on, get off as often as you like. We stayed at Sam's Town. Not bad at all. Years ago we stayed at westward ho.. Don't know if they are still offering campsites.

When we lived in Southern CA are camping Season started on Labor Day and ended on Memorial Day...Too hot to camp locally during the Summer months if we did go anywhere it was up the coast North to Pismo Beach where it is much cooler...My Step Son lives in Vegas and Mother in Law in Bullhead City, AZ I wouldn't want to camp in either place in the Summer.

Oasis is a nice park, we’ve stayed there several times. The airline flight path can be pretty noisy at times and you can imagine that volume of traffic. We stay at Sams Town more now and it’s a bit quieter (a relative term anywhere in Vegas) and a bit more to our liking. Any parks there are going to be good and public transportation For seeing the attractions is good as well. As someone else mentioned, prepare for the heat. Have a great time on your trip!

I go to the SHOT show every January. This year I pulled my 320 RS and stayed at the Circus Circus RV park. My interaction with the staff was great the were very helpful. The nice thing is that the park is just 3 blocks from the bus stop. I learned on previous trips that a 3 day bus pass is the way to go. Duces run about every 15 to 20 mins and you can get anywhere on the strip or Fremont Street you could want to go. Best thing is you don't have to find parking. The RV park may be pretty warn this time of year but I will planning to stay there next January when I go back.

We pass through Las Vegas a few times a year and stay at the KOA Sam's Town (Casino). We like it for several reasons:

1) It is away from downtown and strip noise
2) Sam's Town has frequent free round-trip shuttles to the strip and downtown
3) The Sam's Town Casino has an excellent steak house and a TGIF for casual dining
4) It's clean well managed.

Two thoughts for Las Vegas: Temps could well be 110°+ at that time of year. Plan on spending time in the casinos/shows/restaurants/etc. where it is cool during the day. Return to RV after things cool down. Secondly, consider external security (lock quality, etc.) and leave nothing outside.

I recommend the Thousand Trails Las Vegas park if you're a member. It's super tight, but the price ($0/night) is right.

Did I mention it's super tight?

We felt safe and secure inside of the park. Ladies walk the streets outside and I watched a couple of drug deals while my wife ran into the pharmacy down the street (CVS or Walgreens).

Don't discount being able to park your class C. The parking garages are often good for large vehicles and there's a large parking lot near the Linq with access to the monorail.

Here we are parked next to someone's fifth wheel:

My friends stayed at the Oasis and absolutely loved it.

We stayed in the Circus Circus and was fine, they even allow you to use same facilities hotel paying guests use such as pool, and morning breakfast. Security was also fine since its part of the Hotel and right on the strip.

A couple of years ago... the Luxor and I believe Excalibur too on the strip & busline...had midweek room prices so low that it was cheaper and nicer to park our RV in their lot and take a nice room. Don't know if that is still the case but worth checking out if the idea appeals to you.

NMWildcat pretty much summed it up. You'll have cool desert winds in the early morning, but as soon as the sun comes up it doesn't take long for the temp to rise; and it's a dry blistering heat. We were there in June 2012 and at 10:30 am the temp was already at 107F. After the second day we pulled chocks and headed north to Reno for some shade.

We stayed at the Circus Circus, which did have good security, but not much else, except that its right on the strip, and can use hotel amenities such as pool and breakfast.
