Portland, OR metro area has close to 100 microbreweries, with over 200 in Oregon overall.

One that I always enjoy is the Rogue Hazelnut Brown - a very tasty nutty brown ale.

Ninkasi also has some amazing beers, especially if you enjoy IPAs.

If you are in the Portland area, go to a McMenamins - they have several amazing locations (converted schools, lodges, old hotels) that you can rent a room in and enjoy their multiple delicious beers - the Terminator Stout, the raspberry Ruby Ale, my personal favorite, the Rubinator - half Terminator, half Ruby, and many others. Or you can enjoy their distilled spirits - they make great whiskey, rum, brandy, gin, and more.

If you enjoy beer, spirits (we have some awesome local whiskeys, tequila, vodkas, and much more!), or pretty much anything with alcohol (we have a great local sake brewery, too!), Portland is a great place to be...

We've had a bunch of breweries open up in the Buffalo area the last few years.

In the city itself there is
Resurgence - great beers, cool location, snack menu
Big Ditch - really good beer, nice new building, good food
Pearl St - decent beer, huge building with 4 floors, outdoor patios and good food
Flying Bison - good beer, has food trucks on Tuesday nights
Gene McCarthy's - one of my favorites, great beer and food
Community Beer Works - good beers, haven't been to their location yet

Outside the city we have
Hamburg Brewing - Decent beers, beautiful location
Rusty Nickel - eh, I prefer the restaurant in front of it, Ebenezer Ale House
Ellicotville Brewing - bit of a ride south from Buffalo in ski country. Decent beers, over priced food

I'm always on the lookout for new beers/breweries when we travel. I use the untapped app as well, great app by the way. I thought I was doing good at 876 checkins and 477 distinct beers until I saw 172av8r's post. I guess I have some work to do.

Thanks for the app tip. I just joined. This is also helpful when you had a really good brew but can't remember the name.

I'm also going to be adding these to "my places to go list".

Lots of good choices if you are passing thru the Detroit MI area, huge list of good stops. One of my favorites is Dragonmeade on I-696. Should be able to pull in/out hitched up to grab a growler. B-Nectar meadery in Royal Oak is also great but parking will be an issue if hooked up. Last recommendation - Rochester Mills in Rochester.

Alewerks Brewing Company Williamsburg, VA about 1/4 mile from Anvil Campground.
They serve only their brews, great selection...worth a visit or two

Bohemian Bull, James Island, SC 10min from Campground at James Island County Park
