Local Brews

Not sure if anyone is into Frosty Drafts and Micros? (I tend to lean this way when steering the family to a evening restaurant) Ran across two great breweries when travelling out West:

*Firehouse Brewery in Rapid City, SD

*Beaver Creek Brewery Wibaux, MT

Some excellent stouts and porters after a long day at the wheel!

Would love to hear from others on some similar hot spots around this great country!

Dayton, OH has at least 6 new breweries, of which Warped Wing Brewery is among my favorite. Their Flying Rye (9.5%) and their "10 Ton Stout" are awesome!

East coast but some good ones:

Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton VA. Great beer, good food, awesome views.

There are several great breweries in the area. There is a whole website for this area: brew ridge trail. It is near the blue ridge parkway.

In Bel Air Maryland there is the duclaw brewery.

Pic is from the outside eating area at Blue mountain brewery

There are 6 To 10 Micro Brewery's in the general Roanoke Virginia area / Franklin county....... has become very popular in this general area.

May because Franklin County was the moonshine capital.

Yee-Haw Brewing Company Johnson City, TN. Try the 80 Scotch Ale.

There are probably breweries and brew pubs in most areas of the country now, I just search Google for one any time I am traveling through a new area.

Thanks, I'm jotting these down for the next time out. Experience goes a long way!

I would take recommendations any day from this forum over Google or Yelp.

For those of you travelling through Massachusetts.... A stop at the People's Pint in Greenfield should be at the top of the brewery list. They have been around a long time and my favorite two are the Farmer Brown and Oatmeal Stout.

If you are ever in northern Michigan go to Traverse City and do the brew tour. If I can remember correctly it takes you around to 7 different local micro brewery with so many good ones I can't remember them either.

Also just west of TC in Lake Ann is a new micro brewery that has a really good blonde ale called the Village Blonde. It is one of my favorites.

+1 Very good brew pub. The restaurant there is also great!

There are so many amazing breweries here in New England, it's hard to just single out one or a few.

If ever in Maine try the Shipyard "Import". Had one yesterday, it is a good tasting brew.

Try the Untappd app to keep track of all the beers you try and also to get local recommendations when you're in a new area. BTW, I'm at 440 distinct beers so far! 😄
