In the pic, truck went to Prudhoe bay, camper to coldfoot. Big difference in road conditions on first half to second half.

I believe Gone With The Wynns went up to Chicken in a Class A Gasser -- Not sure I would want to take anything more than a Jeep to Prudhoe bay

Because of son getting married, we didn't arrive into Alaska till end of July. We had almost NO bugs on trip. Very unusual and very pleasant.
Jriddering, we are planning for Canada - Alaska for 2016. Chevy diesel (2500HD). DH is curious about $$ of diesel. Will carry additional fuel, just not decided if gas cans or add a tank.

Thx

This year average 2.60 in Alaska. Couple spot in Canada very high. Dalton highway at yukon river about 5.50 and Prudhoe bay about 4.50. Canada was .89 to 1.09 a liter.
We carried spare 10 gal in cans in truck. On the alaska highway, you refill whenever you can. Couple of times I though I would run out and need the spares. Coming home need fuel and where I was going to stop was out of business. Next spot 10 miles down the pumps were broken. They said next pumps 70.miles down road. Truck said 77 miles to empty. Made it there with about 6 miles to empty. Tooo close. Visitor center in dawson creek has paper listing all gas and diesel stations on highway. VERY HELPFUL.
One time had to add fuel from cans, I was in Montana at the time. Stupid me. Long story on that one.

We are going to retire in 2020 and head out for 6 months to Canada and Alaska.

Has anyone developed a prep checklist and indicated the steps to make the TT or 5thr ready for the trip. When we purchased the fifth wheel trailer it came with an add on called ARTIC WRAP. What exactly is ARTIC wrap? What did FR add...?

What additionL steps would you recommend to make this trip a successful venture?
What gadgets to buy? Example, bug/ rock screen for radiator on TV?

I have been reading MILEPOST which is a great resource for anyone thinking of going NORTH.
