Our Next Trip

At the end of February we will be loading up the fifth wheel and start our trip down to Gulf Shores, AL. We plan on staying at least a month and possibly two. We've got reservations for the month of March at Island Retreat RV Park.

On the way down we will stop in the Memphis, TN area for a couple of days to visit with old friends before continuing to AL.

Nice trip

Sounds like you all are going to have a nice trip. We took a month off over the Christmas Holidays three times. First trip to Arizona where I did some gold prospecting (acturally brought some back with me). The next two years we went to Galveston State Park for 30 days. It is usually warm there over Christmas but the first year we stayed there, we woke up Christmas morning with 5 inches of snow. We were parked next to the beach and boy!!! was the sand white (grin). That is the first time in recorded history that it snowed on Christmas there. We went back for 30 days the next year, but it was warm and balmy all month.

Hope you all have a very nice trip in March. I have never been to the coast of Alabama other than passing through Mobile on the way to the East Coast. Been through Memphis many times on trips to Pennsylvania where I was origianlly from. Live in Cut & Shoot, Texas now. Been in Texas for about 30 years.

Have a safe trip and fun in planning it,

Sob.... I sitting here with 165 cm of snowfall so far this winter, 7' snowbanks at the end of my driveway and a current temp of minus 17c... the words 'Gulf Shores Alabama' just brings tears to my frost-bitten eyes.

For those non-metric folks:
165 cm = 5.41 feet
-17c = 1.4 degrees f.

Oops sorry, I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad. Sorry to hear about all the snow you have. Think of me at the end of February.

Sorry I just couldn't resist posting that picture, it's one of my favorites. I love the white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast. Our trip to the gulf is the only one we have planned for this year. Usually we take two long trips a year, one in late winter and then again in the fall. We're debating whether we want to go east this fall to visit Washington, D.C., or go west again to the mountains.

During the summer months we do a lot of local camping and I can't wait to use my "America the Beautiful" senior pass at the COE campgrounds.

Anyone else have trips planned for this year?
